10 Books That Changed My Life Forever

By Relentless Aaron

Author, Film Maker, Brand Builder

We All Must Start Somewhere…YES, SO MANY OF US think we know it all. And some of us were indeed blessed to have strong, well-rounded, functional mentors there from birth, holding our hands, showing us the way throughout our adolescence. But so many others had to “find their way,” and we had to “make do” with whatever resources were afforded to us. Without mentors, counselors & teachers, where would we be? Well, as you know, educators generally produce books. They write what they know and genuinely share their knowledge with the world as a means of sharing and making a living. So then, most of us are mentored in school, from TV & Youtube, and of course, before the Internet came, there were BOOKS. Here are 10 non-fiction/self-help books that influenced me…

Readers Are Leaders…Only in my 20’s, but mores in my 30’s did I actually learn to love to read. My

circumstances forced into it, with no other choice to keep myself occupied, and I learned to LOVE it! I read VORACIOUSLY, until I absorbed over 1000 books, from non-fiction to

fiction, how-to books and autobiographies. Just say I learned a lot, and when I broke it down to the X,Y,Z of things, reading taught me to be a successful author.

Whether you got a collector’s edition, picked up someone else’s interpretation, or listened to the audio…

Think & Grow Rich is the absolute MUST-HAVE of everyone’s success library. ONCE I LEARNED THAT DR. DENNIS KIMBRO re-wrote the content for African Americans… FOR ME??? I was sold. Read it more than 20 times.

2

So VERY IMPORTANT to get along with people. That is the absolute challenge in life; to get along & communicate with others…

One of the most important statements I took from this book is…

“DON’T CRITICIZE, CONDEMN or COMPLAIN.”

THERE BUT FOR THE

GRACE OF GOD, GO I

This book changed my life. It opened doors for me that I didn’t know existed. It taught me the secret behind life’s possibilities and it made me realize there were great options, if only I believed

I took this first book from my Mother’s success library when I was 13. The book j u s t ke p t r e s u r f a c i n g throughout the years. I still keep a hard copy in this digital age. Hard to give away

What I took away from the 7 habits is the lesson about the 4 Quadrants. That concept… WOWWhen Steven Covey passed on, I wrote a strong message regarding Steven Covey’s book and what it meant to me. “Dear Mr Steven Covey, You taught me to be a leader! I Mastered Habit 1: I have been Proactive! I've done more than merely take initiative. I've done more than recognize that my decisions would guide & direct me. I took ACTION!”

You may read the rest of this commentary if you click the book. It will send you to our website for more

LES BROWN is not only a teacher but also a friend. I’ve been blessed to be trained by him, to be at his TV show and to interview him in person. God Bl;ess Les.

Les Brown is the one sole moving force that

changed my life .

6

"Ask yourself the question Will This Matter a Year From Now’" "Breathe Before You Speak” "Become a Less Aggressive Driver” "The Next Time You Find Yourself in an Argument, Rather than Defend Your Position, See if You Can See the Other Point of View First"

"Think of your problems as potential teachers;" Remember that when you die, your "in box won't be empty"; and "Do one thing at a time.” Just so many jewels in this book. And the way its laid out you can read a chapter within a minute or so. Constant inspiration.

“AS A MAN THINKETH,SO IS HE”

I F T H E R E I S A POWERFUL QUOTE that changed my life, THIS WAS IT! I realize that James Allen’s name is all over this title; however Jesus says in Mark 7:15-16…

"There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!" Jesus is explaining that we are not necessarily what we eat but what we think.

Proverbs 23:7 backs Him up: "For as [a man] thinks in his heart, so is he.”

No matter the origination of this quote, it certainly is the seed behind so many other books. “A Purpose Driven Life”

“The Secret” and so on and so forth. Doesn’t change the fact that this is a powerful concept if adopted into your life.

Side-Note: “The Secret” is no more than

“As A Man Thinketh”, just re-packaged.

But Dr. Robert Schuller’s words are branded on my soul. I’ve taken them everywhere through

life. They’ve afforded me patience and perseverance through it all.

Think & Grow Rich is the absolute MUST-HAVE of everyone’s success library.

I’ve Been Through Some Tough Times…

TONY ROBBINS is a TOP INFLUENCER in my life…

Amazing to be compared to the amazing

Tony Robbins in TIME MAGAZINE!

Reading the Holy Bible connected me with 2 particular movies: Jesus Christ Superstar & Godspell

For me, this was the whole picture of the Gospel
