• Regardless of the ‘form’ it takes (beer, wine or spirits)

• No ‘more potent’ form of alcohol just as there is no ‘safer’ form of alcohol

• What matters is how much you drink NOT what you drink

Whatever your favorite drink, understand how much alcohol it contains

What is ‘Standard Drink’?

A standard drink is defined as one that contains 10 grams

of pure alcohol

Standard Drink: beer = wine= whisky

Whisk or Vodka -4043% = 30 ml

Beer or R 5 % = 330 ml (1 can or small bottle)

Drinking limits advice

To keep below an alcohol concentration of 0.05 grams, drivers are advised to limit their drinking to:

+For men - no more than two standard drinks in the first hour and no more than one standard drink every hour after that.

+For women - no more than one standard drink in the first hour and no more than one every hour after that.
