1. Parent Meeting and Interaction with Alumnae – Department of Human Development

HD Parent Meeting and Interaction with Alumnae – 27th August 2016

The HD department parent meeting and Interaction with Alumnae was conducted on the 27th of

August 2016 from 2 to 5 pm. There was a very large gathering of parents and a few other family

members (e.g., older siblings, aunts, grandparents) on the day, with parents having assembled in

time.

Alongside, a range of alumnae had been invited to speak to the parents and students, a couple of

those who had graduated earlier in the year, long term alumnae, working in different sectors. Ten

minutes had been given to each alumna, and some of them had come prepared with PPT

presentations. The alumnae shared about their experience in the college/department, the

outstandingly positive mark the NN HD education had had on their professional and personal

lives, how they got their job(s), their career progression, their beginning and current salaries, and

support from their families to grow as professionals. Their accounts were moving and inspiring.

After the meeting was formally concluded, parents, teachers and alumnae met each other more

informally. All in all, the parent meeting was a grand success, allowing us to build an HD

community and invite parents into creating more concrete visualisations of their daughters'

current and future professional lives.
