The Pastel Artists of New Zealand is pleased to announce our 1st Online National Exhibition. This
juried exhibition “Purely Pastel” is easy to enter and requires no framing or shipping of artwork. The
final exhibition is completely online, making it accessible to view. Our esteemed Jurors of Selection
are: Liz Haywood-Sullivan and Andrew McDermott and esteemed Judge of Awards is Lyn Diefenbach.

JUROR OF SELECTION Liz Haywood-Sullivan PSA-MP, IAPS/MC/EP
Liz Haywood-Sullivan, PSA-MP, IAPS/MC/EP, is a representational artist specializing in pastel
landscapes. Dedicated to working in the pastel medium since 1996, she teaches nationally and
internationally, and is a sought after judge and demonstrator for pastel societies and arts
organizations around the world. She is a President Emerita of the International Association of Pastel
Societies (2013-2017) and is the author of the popular book Painting Brilliant Skies and Water in
Pastel. Her pastel paintings have won numerous awards, and have been featured in numerous books
and magazine articles, and they have appeared in national, international and museum exhibitions
worldwide. She is lives and works near Boston, Massachusetts, in the US.

JUROR OF SELECTION Andrew McDermott IAPS/MC, SFCA, PSC, PSWC
Upon College graduation in Graphic Design and Illustration, Andrew studied and further refined his own unique style, winning top awards including the Master Circle Medallion from IAPS. Having many published articles, included The Artist magazine 25 under 40. Andrew has also had full feature articles in top art magazines such as International Artist, The Artist UK, Magazin'art, and the Pastel Journal. Andrew is a popular workshop Instructor and is also a life drawing Instructor for the Illustration department at Langara College, Capilano University and for the Animation department at the Vancouver Film School.

JUDGE OF AWARDS Lyn Diefenbach IAPS/EP, PSA/MP
The pursuit of masterly quality and technique is a high priority for Lyn Diefenbach whose work is imbued with a celebration of her faith and of life. Her paintings in pastel and oil cover a myriad of subject matter with her bold florals consistently receiving accolades nationally and internationally. Her ability to communicate her ideas has entrenched her as a respected and sought-after tutor, with teaching engagements internationally and across Australia.
Lyn was accepted into the International Guild of Realism in 2008, and holds Master Pastellist status with the Pastel Society of Australia. Lyn was awarded Eminent Pastellist status in the International Association of Pastel Societies in 2019, having achieved master Circle status with that group in 2014. Lyn was accepted into the Pastel Society of America as a Signature Member in 2016. She has been featured numerous times in the International Artist, Pastel Journal and Australian Artist magazines

An entry form and digital image of work, and payment of entry fee
must be submitted to ShowSubmit.com no later than the entry
deadline
ELIGIBILITY Open to up-to-date financial members of Pastel Artists of New
Zealand only
ELIGIBLE WORK Please check that your work meets the following entry
requirements:
Work must be original
(not copied from other artists or published materials)
Artwork must have been created in the last two years
Works done under supervision (such as a workshop or class) are
not eligible
Work must not have been accepted into any previous PANZ
National Exhibition. Artwork submitted and accepted into this
show that has been shown in a previous PANZ National
Exhibition will be rejected.
The artworks final layer must be (80%) pastel
(soft pastel, hard pastel, oil pastel, pastel pencil are acceptable)
NOTE:
o There are no size restrictions
o Open theme, no categories
Failure to meet any of the eligibility requirements above will result
in the artwork not being juried.
PANZ reserves the right to remove any work that is deemed
offensive, or any work that violates the laws of New Zealand.
Media reproduction of entries is allowed for promotional purposes
by PANZ
ENTRY FEE The entry fee is $NZ 30.00 (for up to 3 images) and $NZ 5.00 for
each additional image. Up to 5 images may be submitted by an
individual artist. Entry fees are not refundable and must be paid by
the entry deadline.
ONLINE ENTRY Entry is online only. Go to www.ShowSubmit.com and scroll down to
the 1st PANZ ONLINE NATIONAL EXHIBITION 2021
Follow the directions for entry. Payment will be made with a valid
credit or debit card (Payments will be made in USD using a current
exchange rate)
Please follow these instructions carefully with regard to preparation
of your images:
Only jpeg (or jpg) images will be accepted
Save your files with a resolution of 300 dpi
Required image size is 1200 pixels on the longest side
File size must be smaller than 2 Mb at “high” or “maximum”
quality (10, 11 or 12)
JPG must show precise image of the artwork only
(No mat, frame, or easel)
File name (Do this before entering show) Start with last name,
an underscore, then your first initial, then another
underscore, then type the title of the painting WITHOUT
ANY SPACES, SPECIAL CHARACTERS, OR PUNCTUATION
MARKS. Be sure the file name ends in .jpg or .jpeg
EXAMPLE:
Artist: Julie Freeman ARTWORK TITLE: Into The Light
File name: Freeman_J_IntoTheLight.jpg
NOTIFICATION Up to 5 entries may be submitted.
All artists will receive notification by email after jurying is complete.

Distinguished Pastelist or Master Pastelist status ONLY. (These
