When arguing for independence, how did Kwame Nkrumah respond to the European claim that the African colonies were not ready to rule themselves?-He pointed out that traditional African governments had ruled African lands for thousands of years. Britain was democratic yet they denied Ghana the right to have their owndemocracy.

8. What caused people’s attitudes toward Nkrumah to change before and after his death? At first, Nkrumah was popular because of his fight for independence was successful. He was then thrown out of office because people blamed him for the country’s economic problems. When he died, many people felt he had done his best, and thought of him as a hero who led Ghana towards independence.
