Secret Notebook Pages

Copy the following pages (one set per child) front and back, punch holes in them, and place them in a notebook (Secret Notebook). The children should use this Secret Notebook to write down words that are encountered that contain a trick. You should model the first few stories and do some words together (especially QU). I have a clear pencil pouch that is filled with invisible golden keys. I give each child an invisible golden key to hide in their crayon boxes (or wherever) to lock their Secret Notebooks. They may draw on the outside of the notebooks as they wish; even drawing locks so they will be able to unlock it with their invisible golden keys. If someone opens the Secret Notebook, they will be unable to read it because that person does not have an invisible golden key. Only those holding the invisible golden key will be able to read the words when they open the notebook.
