• 6) Principal of comprehensiveness of curriculum- curriculum must have necessary detail because merely a list of topics will not serve the purpose either of the tracher or the students.
• The teacher and the students should know clearly what is expected of them, what is the start and what is the end of the topic for that particular class
• Material aids, techniques, life situations, related activites, possibilities of correlation etc. should be listed in the curriculum so that these can serve as a guide ot the teachers and author of text books
• 7 ) Principle of Correlation – The curriculum should be such that all the subjects are related to teach other.while designing the curriculum,it must be kept in mind that the subject matter of various subjects has some affinity or relation with each other so that they help the child eventually.Teaching all the subjects separately would be unpsychological.
• 8) Principle of usefulness for higher education = after the primary stage ,child goes to middle ,high ,senior secondary stage, college and university. Therefore it is necessary that education of one stage must help the child for the preparation of another stage.
• It may be possible that few topics must not be needed in the lower stage, but these are included in the curriculum so that lack of knowledge of these topics may not become hurdle in the way of education for higher stage.
• Therefore it is necessary to include those topics at the lower stage ,which helps the child in the learning of higher stage.
• It must be ensured that those who give up their studies after school stage ,go fully prepared and equipped for the future life.
• This group of students constitutes the majority and their needs should be given priority over those who would join the college or university
• it is not worthwhile to cater to the needs of college or university education at the school stage since most of the students are not going to benefit by that and in this way this will not be justice for school students
• 9) Principle of curiosity generalization –According to whitehead in the determination of curriculum important place should be given to curiosity ,reality and generalisations. Each and every child passes through these three situations to gain knowledge of any object or subject.
• In the study of any subject, first of all there is aroused curiosity. This gives him motivation for learning that subject, the child tries to understand everything regarding that subject and thing.
• After this curiosity is satisfied to some extent then he by collecting various facts regarding that thing tried to some establish some rules.
• The situation is that of reality .In this situation the child’s knowledge and skills increses.
• He now applies the rules which he has established in other situations and obtains information regarding their utility.
• This is the stage of generalization which is third stage.
• Hence Whitehead considers that in choosing the curriculum content ,the principle of curiosity generalization should be kept in mind those elements should be chosen which arouse the curiosity of the child.
• Through such arousal encourage reality and develop the ability of arriving at generalizations
• 10) Principle of practical work – as the child is active by nature ,he likes new things ,therefore ,he learns more by doing or by activity method.
• Therefore it is necessary that in the lower classes only those concepts or topics must be included in the curriculum which provide maximum opportunity to the child for practical work with the help of concrete thing.Slowly and slowly while proceeding towards higher classes ,curriculum must be made abstract.
• 11) Principle of difficulty – At the time of arranging the content or topics of curriculum ,digestive power of the students must be kept in mind .In the organization of content and topics we must proceed from simple to complex.
• In the lower classes content of the curriculum should b such that which is easy for the children to understand.
• After that in the upper classes content should be such that which may be beyond the understanding level of the children.
• 12) Principle of graded arrangement – Every topic must be divided into small units and these units must be graded according to their difficulty level.Simple units or the topics must be taught at the lower stage while the difficult must be kept for higher class.
