INTRODUCTION

The scholarships and bursaries listed in this booklet are available to you as a student in the 2018 graduating class at Amherst Regional High School. There may be scholarships and bursaries, not found in this booklet, but available in our community of which the school has not been informed (private companies/unions where a parent may be employed, etc.). Please check with your parent/guardian. Locating and applying for national, provincial, and private organizations scholarships is your responsibility. We have made available, to you, many of these scholarships and bursaries with links to websites and applications through the www.arhs.ccrsb.ca website. These, however, are not meant to be a complete list of what is available, but a starting point in your search. For the scholarships and bursaries included in this booklet, please read the conditions carefully and note those for which you are eligible. Once you have determined those for which you are eligible, you may pick the applications up in the Guidance Office or print the .pdf copy on the website. Please note that the deadline for the majority of the local scholarships and bursaries is Monday, May 7th. Be sure to check all applications for individual deadlines as they may vary from application to application. Unless otherwise specified please return your completed applications to the main office before the May 7th deadline. There will be no exceptions for late applications. Remember, if you are eligible, you should apply! All local scholarship and bursary winners will be announced at graduation on Thursday, June 28th, 2018. A note on Student Loans:

NEW: In spring 2018, a webinar presentation will be available to all students. The web-based presentation will provide the necessary materials to students at times that are as convenient as possible for you. Students planning on attending university, college, or other post-secondary institutions may qualify for financial assistance in the form of a student loan and/or a Canada Study Grant for students with disabilities. All ARHS students and parents/guardians are welcome, and encouraged, to attend.

You should complete student loan applications as soon as they are available. The applications will be online at http://studentloans.ednet.ns.ca around the end of May or first of June. Congratulation on this milestone! Shelly Anderson Wade Van Snick School Counsellor School Counsellor
