The same proprietary epoxy technology of Amerlock 400and Amerlock 2 is also available in a solventless sealer andtiecoat that penetratesrust and adheres toaged coatings.Amerlock Sealer is aclear, thin-film 38microns (1.5 mil)100% solids epoxysealer that iscompatible with manyolder coatings as wellas damp substrates.
Like other products in the AmerlockSeries,Amerlock Sealer resistsmoisture and corrosion.

Applying AmershieldTM (aliphaticpolyurethane) topcoat on top ofeither Amerlock 2 or Amerlock 400results in Lockshield a superiorsystem that is as rugged as it isaesthetically pleasing. This easy-to-apply system is ideal for directapplication to both metal andconcrete, and offers good chemical, abrasion and stainresistance. When applied to a wire brush cleaned surface, the Lockshield System complies with world recognizedstandards such as ISO 12944 C5-M high and C5-1 high.
Eight ways thatAmerlock® Seriescoatings save time
and money inmaintenance
painting:
Amerlock is the high-solids, high-build epoxy protectivecoating that has revolutionized maintenance painting in
tough industrial, marine and offshore environments around theworld.Amerlock Series coatings are especially formulated to solve
complex corrosion problems—with minimal surface preparation.Thesecoatings are designed to permit application directly to tightly adhering rust
and intact old paint without blast cleaning.
With its proprietary blend of penetrants and surface tension-control agents,Amerlock has superior wetting action and creates a tight bond to the underlyingmetal. The result is a tough, durable coating with excellent resistance to weather, moisture, sunlight and chemical fumes.Amerlock’s low-solvent formula willtypically not lift or wrinkle old paint, and it is also an excellent direct-to-metal protective coating for new, unpainted surfaces. It meets existingVOC regulations, and it even meetsrequirements for drinking water andindirect food contact.
For durable, dependable protectionfrom chemicals and corrosion in avariety of industrial settings—there isan Amerlock coating for everymaintenance painting job, even yours.
◆ ◆ AM E R L O C K ® 400
When the job calls for a tough coatingthat seals and protects in just oneapplication, choose Amerlock 400.Besides its suitability as a maintenancecoating on existing steel structures, it isan excellent all-in-one primer andtopcoat for new, unpainted steel inindustrial facilities, on bridges, tankexteriors, offshore facilities, marine, piping, roofs, water towers and otherexterior weathered exposures. It resistshigh humidity and moisture, and is compatible with prepared damp surfaces whenpre-application blasting is impractical or impossible.
Amerlock 400 cures through a wide temperature range, and is available in a varietyof colours. While it is a self-priming topcoat over most existing coatings, it can beovercoated with a wide range of topcoats if desired for extended weatherability orspecial situations. Its chemical resistance to splash/spillage, fumes and immersionin neutral, fresh and salt water makes Amerlock 400 an excellent choice for a widevariety of general maintenance applications. With proper application AmerlockLocks-up corrosion problems and is the key to a successful maintenance program.
1 Primer and topcoat in one – nodowntime, less costly to apply.
2 Requires minimal surface preparation –especially convenient where blastcleaning is impractical.
3 Can be applied over intact old paint andrust – Amerlock’s low-solvent formulapenetrates to the underlying metal to forma tight bond. Compatible with most oldercoatings, as well as damp substrates.
4 Application by brush, roll or spray isquick and easy. At 21˚C (70˚F) Amerlock400 dries to the touch in as few as 9 hours, Amerlock 2 in just 2 hours. Both formulas cure to a tough, durablefilm that resists moisture, and chemicalfumes.
5 A single 125 microns (5-mil) coat ofAmerlock 400 or Amerlock 2 deliverslong-term protection compared toconventional paints that require two orthree coats and deliver short-livedprotection. Amerlock coatings can even beapplied in thicknesses up to 200 microns(8 mils) in one coat – a significantadvantage for coating angular surfaces.
6 Can be applied in cold weather – temperatures down to 4˚C (40˚F) –even down to freezing if the surface isfree of ice.
7 Amerlock 400 and Amerlock 2 areavailable in a variety of standard colours, including aluminum. Ask your Ameronrepresentative for a custom colorformulated to your specific requirements. Both products also available in glassflakeand blockfiller formulas.
8 Amerlock can also be used with a widerange of other Ameron high performancecoatings such as the Amercoat 450 Seriesand PSX® products to solve particularasset preservation needs.
