Commanders Our American Legion Post 584 is only as strong

as its membership and it is up to all of us to continue to volunteer in support of our Post and this critical veterans' organization. In the last few months, we've added new members from here locally and also from other places down the hill. We've had some great dinners, entertainment, karaoke and more fun events planned. Check your calendar, our website and Facebook pages to see what's going on. We were voted into the American Legion Riders and have officially become the ALR Chapter 584. There are 34 other Chapters in Area 5 and we'll soon have a Welcome to Chapter 584 BBQ on May 12th. The VA and Post 584 will be hosting a presentation in March for our community leaders, Veterans and the community to cover benefits, mental health and the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act. Our Legionnaires, Women's Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion and American Legion Riders are working to-gether at every event, helping increase membership and making Post 584 a place that others want to a part of for 2018 and the future.

For God & Country. Jimmy Lona, Commander

Presidents report Happy Spring every-

one. We’ve had several wonderful dinners the past two months. A big thanks to all the volunteers who helped cook, served and cleaned up. If you didn’t come to Flip’s Lasagna dinner, you missed a great

dinner. Thanks Flip for all of the cooking you’re doing for us. We’ve had several items donated for raffles. Thanks to

Teresa Sheppard and Barbara Marty for the beautiful baskets they provided. Half of the proceeds were donated to the Polar Plunge Special Olympic Fund that benefits Children with special needs. The funds raised goes to the San Bernardino and River-side county CSO fund.

Debbie Sutterberg made and donated a “Quillow” which was raffled off on Saint Patrick's day. Patty Cotta put together a Fab-ulous “Easter” basket that was Raffled on March 31st. Thanks to everyone.

We have two dinners coming up in April. Friday the 6th, Patty Cotta and Dale Glinka are making Chicken Parmesan and baked Ziti. Saturday April 14th Carol McDonald and Nancy are serving Stuffed Chicken Breasts and some wonderful side dish-es. Please support our two dinners. May 5th, Cinco de Mayo, the Auxiliary is serving Tacos, enchiladas and all of the fixings, and Margarita drink special.

Please come and support all Post dinners be it a Post, SAL, Auxiliary or Legion Riders.

Happy Birthday wishes to all celebrating in April and May. Connie Vihlene. President
