• Give2breathsover1secondeach.• Chestriseiskeyindicatorofaffectivebreaths.• Donothyperventilate.

UsingAutomatedExternalDefibrillator(AED)

• Removeclothing/wipedryifwet.• TurnonAEDFIRST- ittellsyouwhattodo!• Placepadsonchest(seepicsonpads).• Pluginconnector.• Followvoiceprompts.• NEVERremovepadsorturnoffAED.• Afterashockisgiven,resumecompressions.

ChildCPR

• 1yearolduntilpuberty,defineschild.• 30:2ratiofor1personCPR.• Use1or2hands(2inchesor5cmdepth).• 15:2ratiofor2personCPR.• Maincauseofcardiacarrestinchildren=lackofoxygen(choking,asthma,drowning).

• Witnessed=callforhelp,grabAED,thenCPR.• Unwitnessed=5cyclesofCPR,thencallforhelp.

InfantCPR

• Newbornto1yearold.• 1personCPR=30:2- 2fingers,belowthenippleline,lowerhalfofthebreastbone.

• 2personCPR=15:2- encirclingtechniqueusingthumbs.

• 100-120BPM.

RescueBreathing

• Forpeoplethathaveapulseandarenotbreathing(orgasping).

• Adults:1breathevery5-6seconds.• Children:1breathevery3-5seconds.

AdultChoking

• AbdominalThrust.akathe“Heimlich”maneuver.

• Standbehindvictim,makeafist,placethumbabovebellybutton.Withotherhand,coverclosedfistandthrustinupwardmotionuntilobjectbecomesdislodged.

• Ifvictimbecomesunresponsive,CALLforhelpandTHENstartCPR.

InfantChoking

• Placeinfant,facedowninforearm,stabilizinghead.Provide5backthrustsbetweenshoulderblades.

• Placeotherhandoverbackofhead,turninfantover,provide5cheststhrusts.(SameasCPR)

• Dothisuntilobjectbecomesdislodged.• Ifinfantbecomesunresponsive,beginCPR.
