The EnerLogic™ program helps operators conserve energy and maximize profits. Look forour EnerLogic™ mark and you’ll know you’re getting the most from every energy dollarspent on your “cold-side” foodservice equipment. This program incorporates acombination of third-party standards, including meeting or exceeding California EnergyCommission rebate standards, or meeting criteria outlined by the Federal EnergyManagement Program, including those that:

    • Incorporate new energy-saving technology• Involve renewable energy• Demonstrate water efficiency and/or• Feature sustainable design and operations

  • AHRI CertificationThe Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute(AHRI) is the association representing manufacturers ofrefrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment. AHRIadministers a standardized rating program in which anindependent laboratory verifies that eachproduct of the AHRI membership deliversthe performance that its manufacturerclaims. As a result, the AHRI rating systemgives customers direct comparisonsamong similar types of equipment whosereliability and performance have been thoroughlydocumented based on quantitative and objective standards.Review the AHRI performance ratings whenever youevaluate ice-making equipment. Some manufacturerschoose to publish a non-AHRI certified “application ornominal capacity rating.” For comparison purposes multiplyManitowoc AHRI capacity ratings by 1.3 (30%) toapproximate these “application/nominal” capacities.

ISO 9001:2008Manitowoc Ice was the first U.S. manufacturer ofcommercial ice-makers to receive ISO 9001 certification.Manitowoc received its certificate of registration on February13, 1995 for the design and manufacture of commercial icemachines, bins, dispensers, and reach-inrefrigerators and freezers. Guardian®Slime is a leading cause of ice machine breakdownsand biological growth is a health concern. Manitowoc’sexclusive Guardian® Accessory is patented technology

that releases chlorine dioxideon a controlled basis to inhibitthe growth of bacteria andfungi that form slime andcause odors in the foodzone of ice machines.

It is not uncommonto perform a monthlymanual cleaning of an icemachine to remove slime.Professional cleaning will

typically cost $160 on average. Manitowoc’s Guardiancan extend slime cleaning effectiveness by up to sixtimes the normal frequency...6 months instead ofone. The Guardian Accessory consists of Manitowoc’spatented sachet housing and chemical sachet refill.

Arctic Pure®Water FilterNew quick disconnectdesign conditions incomingwater, reduces machinecleaning frequency andservice costs, maximizesequipment performance, and improves ice quality.Features include:

    • Replaceable filters,and compact size.

    • All systems carry a 3-yearparts-and-labor warranty(excluding filter cartridge).

Cleaning an ice machine’s water-distributionsystem has always been an essential, butlaborious, part of routine maintenance. Keepingan ice machine’s water-distribution system freeof lime deposits and mineral scale is important.A clean machine operates more reliably, produces more ice, uses less energy and lastslonger than one hampered by lime and scale. And as water conditions deteriorate throughoutmost areas of the United States, the need forproper cleaning of an ice machine’s water-distribution system continues to becomemore and more important.

Standard, Cleaning SystemTo simplify maintenance, all Manitowocice machines have an exclusive, patented,

technology that cleans orsanitizes the ice machine’swater-distribution system injust 24 minutes. Standardon all ice machines, thistechnically reduces cleaningeffort to simply flipping aswitch and pouring in a fewounces of cleaner or sanitizer.

    QUIETQUBE® ICE MACHINES

    www.manitowocice.com

QuietQubeSeries 1000C RemoteIce Machine on B-570 Bin

A New Way to Make Ice

Manitowoc uses an exclusive, technology thatputs the compressor and condenser fanmotor on the roof. Our patented CVDtechnology® uses cool vapor rather than hotgas to harvest ice. It not only makesQuietQube ice machines the quietest ever; itmakes them more reliable, makes themefficient, and provides high levels of iceproduction too.

You design the service and dining room areasto create a relaxing atmosphere. The noisefrom a traditional ice machine can destroythat atmosphere. Consider how much noisecustomers and employees face in youroperation...and how much more energeticand more inviting your operation would bewith a quiet ice machine.

CVD® (Cool Vapor Defrost) technology isbasically a different type of ice harvest systemthat allows Manitowoc to move thecompressor out of the customer environment.Standard remote condenser ice machines alluse compressor hot gas systems to heat theevaporator during their ice harvest cycles. Tomake hot gas systems work, the compressormust be as physically close to the ice makingevaporator as possible. This also means thenoise from the compressor is alwaysconcentrated at the ice making part of thesystem. This is not something you want in acustomer environment.

The QuietestIce Cube Machine Ever Made

Seventy-five percent quieter than a self-contained or standard remote ice machine.Currently there are two kinds of air-cooled icemachines. One kind is a self-contained unit withall the components necessary to make ice located within the machine. The other kind is a remote air-cooled machine where the condenser isplaced outside the building, say on the roof. That makes it a littlequieter than a self-contained model. But theManitowoc QuietQube® remote is over 75%quieter than that...the quietest ever made.

Manitowoc CVD ice machines use vaporrefrigerant from the receiver tank to harvestthe ice. The receiver tank is a refrigerantstorage tank typically used on all remoteice machines and can be a source of vaporrefrigerant for a harvest cycle if the systemis configured correctly. CVD systems all uselarge capacity refrigerant accumulators formaximum compressor protection underany operating condition. Compressor andcondenser heat and noise is always locatedoutside away from the customerenvironment.

The Manitowoc QuietQube™ Ice/Beverage Seriesice machine is a design breakthrough that directlyaddresses the leading concerns in the foodserviceindustry – sanitation and food safety. The size andweight of traditional ice-making machines makesthe periodic sanitation and maintenance of beveragedispensers extremely difficult and time consuming. With a narrow depth (only 14 inches (35.56 cm)versus standard models that are 23 inches (58.42 cm)deep) the Manitowoc Ice/Beverage Series provides theoperator with easy access to the inside of thedispenser for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance.

This unique capability is made possible byManitowoc’s patented CVD (Cool Vapor Defrost)technology which results in an extremely compactdesign and allows the machine to operate withvirtually no noise or heat.

The resulting narrow 14 inch (35.56 cm) depth of theIce/Beverage ice machine allows the ice dispenser to becleaned with the ice maker in place. It also providesa large open front access area that permits convenientmanual loading of ice in the ice dispenser should theneed arise. The Ice/Beverage unit will not obstruct sightlines and can be installed or retrofitted to virtually anycommercial beverage dispenser.

This compact Ice/Beverage Series ice machine isavailable in high volume ice production capacities tosatisfy nearly every beverage dispenser application at Quick ServiceRestaurants, convenience stores, recreational, or educational foodserviceoperations.

    Sizing

In any business, ice needs are rarelyuniform. For example, more ice isneeded in summer than in winter and onweekends than on weekdays. Size yourManitowoc ice machine and storage bin tomeet your peak needs.

Avoid sizing a new ice machinesolely on the performance of yourpresent equipment. The age andmechanical condition of your present icemachine may mislead you in determining the production capacityyou need. Remember, surrounding air and incoming watertemperatures affect the quantity of ice a machine produces.

Determine what these temperatures will be during times of peakusage, then verify your selection from the machine’s productionchart. The Ice Usage Guide will help you calculate your productionrequirements based on your peak needs. After calculating how muchice you expect to need, add 20% to accommodate future businessgrowth. Taking the time to correctly size ice making equipmentassures ample ice supply during peak periods.
