AMENDMENT PROCESS
Method one….bill must pass two thirds of
both houses…goes to the states….usually a
time limit of 7 years
Method two …two thirds of the legislatures
in the States call for a
Convention….amendments are then sent to
the states for approval…must have three
fourths of the states approval
SOCIETAL NEEDS
Political---deals with the governmental
system….ex: number of terms for the president
Economic —”deals with the production,
distribution, and consumption of goods and
services, or the material welfare of people”…ex:
Congress can increase taxes
