5.20 Q-Multiplier Alignment The components L19 and C91 are used to tune out any capacitance introduced by the coax lead running from the Q-multiplier board to the I.F. amplifier. 1. Q-Multiplier “OFF” and receiver tuned to calibrator signal. C91 should be adjusted for maximum S-meter reading.(L19 normally needs no adjustment.) 2. Q-Multiplier “PEAK”. Advance PEAK control until oscillation occurs. Place FREQUENCY control at mid range. Adjust L20 so that the beat note heard is the same frequency on both the upper and lower sideband positions. 3. Q-Multiplier “PEAK”. Set PEAK control at twelve o'clock and adjust RV10 so the unit is on the threshold of oscillation. 4. Q-Multiplier “NOTCH”. Receiver tuned to strong external signal. Set NOTCH control to twelve o’clock. Adjust RV11 in conjunction with the FREQUENCY control for minimum S-meter reading.
