Amelia EarhartAmelia was born on 24 July 1897 in the small town of Atchison in the American state Kansas. She had one
sister named Muriel. Her dad’s name was Edwin and he was a lawyer and her grandfather on her mother’s side, Alfred Otis, was a judge. Her mum’s name was Amy and she had become the first woman to climb Pike’s Peak a
famous mountain in the Rockies.
For a while Amelia was engaged to Samuel Chapman, a chemical engineer from Boston, breaking off her engagement on November 23, 1928. Her husband was George P. Putnam.

Facts
During her childhood, Amelia had a dog and a cat but later when she was an adult she had two canary birds.She was a volunteer nurse at a veterans' hospital during World War 1. She worked as a file clerk, office assistant, photographer, and truck driver to earn the money to buy her own plane. She was a social worker in Boston. After she married George Putnam, her job was to set new aviation records, and give lectures.
