UA70-050-0060 Fishhook Ivory shank tapered at both ends, the top end more so than bottom. The smaller tapered end has two holes drilled through it to accomadatethe picture wire wound through for leader. Attached to the loop made at the opposite end of the picture frame wire is a thin plastic line with three knots tied into it. The opposite end of the shank has a bent barbless nail extending from the flat side of the object for the point. Tied to the nail is a red bead used for a lure. Not including plastic line: 9cm x 1.5cm.

UA70-050-0067 Sinker, Fishhook and Mammouth ivory sinker tapered on both ends. On the top of the sinker there is a darkened area (outter core). The sinker has one circular hole drilled into each end for line attachments. Looped through the bottom hole in the sinker is wire (picture wire). The wire is attached to a metal connector piece. The three wire, bent, barbless hooks are held together by a thin metal wire and attached to the metal connector piece. 21.5cm x 3.5cm.

UA97-028-0001AB Boots, Mukluks Caribou fur and wolf mukluk and leggings. Length 89 cm., Soles and sides of boot are composed of caribou with fur towards the inside. Lower legs are caribou with fur towards the outside. Upper legs and leggings are wolf with fur towards the outside. Along the top of the leggings is trimmed caribou with fur towards the outside. Blue (denim-like) textile is sewn around the leg opening with a red and black chord throughout, used to tighten the leg legging. A has one pom-pom, and B has two pom-poms. Bottom of boots have hide straps, back of which are dyed reddish.

UA2001-013-0309 Basket, Birch Bark Round birch bark basket, made with strips of birch bark, woven together along the sides. The walls of the basket are formed by placing the bark in diagonal strips, with the light side going in one direction, the dark in the opposite, and weaving the two peices together. The top and bottom are held together with strips of bark that are held with strips of willow, in turn wrapped with spruce root. The bottom is made from two round pieces of bark, dark-side exposed, lashed together and to the basket with spruce root lashings. Measures 11 x 23.6 cm.

0551-5427 Snowshoe Boy's snowshoe. Single snowshoe. Style is of westernmost Alaska type (see Nelson 'Eskimo about Bering Strait' or paper file). Outer wood frame made from two peices of wood. They are tied together to a point at heel with rawhide and spliced and lashed together forming a curve at front. There are three wood crossbars, 2 large main crossbars and one small one near the very end of heel. In the upper space between the top crossbar and the toe, there is sinew webbing. The sinew is wrapped through holes in the wood and crisscrosses as well as goes straight across. In the middle space between the crossbars, there is rawhide lashing. It goes horizontal and vertical. The bottom space between the bottom crossbar and the heel has sinew lashing. (The third small crossbar is within this space). The lashing here follows the same pattern as the top space. Total length 87.5 cm (34.5").

Lashed along the top and bottom edges with willow, which is wrapped in spruce root. Inside of the basket is the dark-colored bark with root lashings, creating a star pattern. The bottom is two pieces of birch bark, outsides together. Measures 8 x 27.2 cm.

Not completely flat - the narrow end appears to curve up while the wider end curves down, from the side. Highly polished. Property mark engraved on the underside of the wide end. Measures 8.65 x 2.65 x 0.45 cm.

UA2002-001-0001 Basket, Birch Bark Folded birch bark basket with spruce root stitching and willow trim. Top rim has woven pattern using black goose grass. The exterior of the basket has four seperate pieces of interior exposed birch bark sewn into the top rim. Willow has been stripped and sewn on with spruce root. On underside of basket, written in blue ball point ink, there is a name written which appears to be "Alexandra". Measures 8.4 x 16.3 x 16.1 cm.

UA2002-001-0089 Scoop, Model Wooden model of fish scoop. The basket of the scoop is made from a thin piece of bent wood with cotton twine webbing woven in a diamond pattern. The handle is a long thin piece of wood attaced to the basket with cotton twine. See remarks field. Measures 2.5 x 5.7 x 25.9 cm.

UA2004-025-0002 Basket, Birch Birch Basket. 39.2cm X 26.9cm X 23cm. Upper portion of basket made of darker birch bark with bottom section made of white bark. Around the top, 1/3 of the way down, there is a thin strip of dark willow bark held on decoratively by a thin thread of light spruce root. The upper edge is made of dark willow wood with a thin thread of light spruce root. The inside is made of bark as well with evidence of wear and scraping. On the bottom there is a collection number from original collector "LATHROP 851027".

UA2004-025-0001 Basket, Birch Bark One folded birch basket of various colors. There are two pieces of dark willow securing the top and the center of the basket. These pieces of willow are held on the birch basket with a sliver of spruce root woven around it and into the birch basket. There is one orginal mend done with spruce root. Measures: 27.3cm X 19.2cm X 15.5cm.
