Click to play ENRICHED AIR CLASS FORMING NOW….CALL 316-775-6688 The Advanced Open Water Diver Course (AOW) is the next step in learning advanced skills directly applicable to scuba diving. Frequently, an AOW card is just the cket to diving at a variety of more sites. For example, we know of several places in the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, and some wreck sites in Florida who will not let you dive at certain, more advanced sites, unless you have the AOW or above cerficaon. The reason is that the operators don't want to risk pung OW divers into certain ad- vanced level dive condions such as currents or deep, blue wa- ter, environments. They know that PADI AOW cerfied divers have the skills and experience necessary for such sites. There are a total of 5 dives necessary to complete the course. The required 2 Core dives are Deep and Underwater Navigaon. You can choose the remaining 3 Adventure Dives. This course is for newly cerfied divers as well as divers with more experience who wish to expand their knowledge and praccal skills. Also, if connued you don't have enough me to complete the full AOW course, the Adventure Diver rang is awarded aſter compleon aſter any 3 Adventure Dives. Why should you take the Advanced Open Water Course? Open Water Divers have learned the basics, the "how" of diving. Aſter a few dives, there is a need to expand that dive knowledge and learn praccal skills which can increase your enjoyment of diving. Ever surface far away from the boat and have a long sur- face swim back? With the Navigaon dive, you will learn how to prevent that situaon, using compass as well as natural naviga- onal aids to assist in your underwater journey. For deep diving, there are special concerns, and as an Open Water Diver, you are cerfied to dive 18 meters/60 feet. Aſter compleng the AOW course, that level is extended to 30 meters/100 feet. If you really want to advance your skills and be more comforta- ble in the water, taking this course is the way to do it. We have openings for OUR Beaver lake trips. Give us a call and schedule your course today! PADI DEEP DIVER TRAINING The purpose of the PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course is to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organi- zaon, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoy- ment of diving between the depths of 60 feet to 130 feet. The Deep Diver specialty course is intended to serve as a safe, supervised introducon to deeper diving within the limits of recreaonal scuba diving. Now that you have several dives, you may want to do deeper dives. The Deep Diver course will get you over the apprehension of the unknown and give you more confidence through knowledge 5 Great Reasons to go Scuba Diving on Roatan Scuba diving on Roatan Roatan is oſten called the jewel of the Caribbean because of its many amazing features - its lush, hilly land- scape, azure waters, the friendly people and diverse and rich culture. Its claim to fame is, of course, its amazing reefs and marine life, so going scuba diving should be on the top of your "to do" list when you visit! Even if you've traveled to other popular dive desnaons without going diving, here are 5 great rea- sons to go scuba diving on Roatan! Reason 1. The dive sites are super close Since the reef starts only a few hundred feet from land, the enre island is basically one giant dive site. From West End alone, we have over 30 dive sites within a 10 minute boat ride, which means less me on the boat and more me in the water! Most dive centers run single tank trips because of the proximity of the dive sites to the dive centers, so you have the choice of one, two or three dives in the day and can spend your surface intervals comfortably on the beach with a cold lemonade (or beer, but only aſter div- ing!) in hand. Reason 2. So nice, but you don't have to do them twice The benefit of having so many dive sites in such close proximity means that unless you request to repeat a site, you don't have to. Obviously, if you're doing 50 dives out of West End, then yes, you will end up re- peang some sites, but it's very easy to create variety in your diving experience. The West Bay area is filled with sand chutes, coral plateaus and mini-walls, while you get cool canyons and deep walls as you move towards Sandy Bay, so there are loads of cool topographies and points of in- terest to explore. Reason 3. Diving a healthy reef in a protected marine park The Roatan Marine Park was started as a grassroots movement 10 years ago to add addional protecon to the marine reserve already set in place by the Honduran government. The last ten years have been a long bale for the Roatan Marine Park, but the fruits of their labor are defi- nitely showing. In the Healthy Reefs 2015 Report Card for the Mesoamerican Reef, Roatan ranked highest in coral health and fish populaons. Many other famous dive desnaons, like the Great Barrier Reef, were not so lucky. The connued work that the Roatan Marine Park does in conservaon is what helps preserve Roatan’s beauful reef for many more years to come, so make sure to support them by purchasing a $3 daily cket or $10 yearly bracelet. Reason 4. Calm, clear condions with mild currents Throughout most of the year, we enjoy relavely calm, flat water on the surface, with underwater visibility averaging around 100ſt/30m. While currents can vary from day to day, we usually have mild currents that make scuba diving a much more relaxing and enjoyable experience. When the weather does get rough on the north side of the island, many dive shops in Roatan have the flexibility to dive on the south side of the island, where you can once again find calm, flat condions for diving. This type of flexibility is praccally unheard of in most popular dive desna- ons. Reason 5. Diverse marine life While our colorful marine life populaon es in strongly with Reason 3, we couldn't help but shine a special light on Roatan's underwater inhabit- ants. Whether you enjoy some of the bigger creatures or enjoy spong the smaller, more hidden invertebrates we have it all! By having a healthy reef, it in turn brings in a variety of fish, crustaceans, boom dwellers, shrimps and pelagic fish to these warm Caribbean waters. So there you have it, 5 great reasons to go scuba diving on Roatan! If you're not a cer- fied diver, there are plenty of ways you can sll interact with Roatan’s marine world, whether it be with snorkeling or with the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program. The life on land isn’t too shabby, either, so start planning your trip to Roatan today or let us do it for you from Nov 2-9 2019.
