5 Important Reasons to Take the
PADI Rescue Diver Course
As divers, we all chose to experience life underwater by learning to dive. After getting scuba certified, some of us then decided to expand upon our open water skills (and maybe we also wanted to go a little deeper underwa-ter too) by taking the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. But how many of you have gone on to complete your PADI Rescue Diver course? The Rescue Diver course will help you learn to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver. So if you’re still wondering why you should take the Rescue Diver course, check out these 5 important reasons. Improve Your Scuba Skills and Confidence Underwater Divers describe the PADI Rescue Diver course as the “most challenging, yet most rewarding course” and for good reason. You will learn to be-come a better buddy by practicing problem solving skills until they be-come second nature. These skills will be put to the test, both on top of the water and underneath, until you can complete them confidently. With skills and training comes confidence and that’s exactly how the Rescue Diver course will help build your confidence underwater. Improve Your Underwater Navigation Skills Navigation. It’s something that some of us were either able to conquer straight away or we just couldn’t quite get the hang of. During the Res-cue Diver Course your navigation skills will be tested as you learn how to navigate, search and recover underwater. With plenty of practice throughout the course, your PADI Instructor will make sure you’re capa-ble of navigating through any visibility! Being Prepared For Any Emergency Situation We have all learnt about the possible emergencies that can arise from div-ing. But can you confidently say that you would know what to do in an emergency situation? That’s where the Rescue Diver course comes in. The Rescue Diver course also includes the Emergency First Response Prima-ry and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training. This training, in con-junction with your Rescue Diver training, will ensure you’re prepared for any medical emergency – on top of the water or underneath. It’s the Last Course Before the PADI Divemaster Course! If you’re interested in taking the next step and turning scuba diving into a career, then the PADI Divemaster course might be for you. The Rescue Diver course is the last scuba course that you will need to complete before you start your journey to become an underwater tour guide. The skills and knowledge learnt in your Rescue Diver course will become the foundation of your Divemaster training. Don’t forget – you will also receive a shiny, new black certification card when you com-plete the PADI Divemaster course! It’s Loads of Fun While the Rescue Diver course is quite serious and focused, it’s also a lot of fun. Your Instructor will keep you on your toes throughout the course as you’re constantly surprised by different rescue scenarios. You can expect lots of laughter in between the focused learning, and of course some diving along the way – which is always fun! Click to play

The Advanced Open Water Diver Course (AOW) is the next step
in learning advanced skills directly applicable to scuba diving.
Frequently, an AOW card is just the ticket to diving at a variety
of more sites. For example, we know of several places in the
Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, and some wreck sites in Florida
who will not let you dive at certain, more advanced sites, unless
you have the AOW or above certification. The reason is that the
operators don't want to risk putting OW divers into certain ad-
vanced level dive conditions such as currents or deep, blue wa-
ter, environments. They know that PADI AOW certified divers
have the skills and experience necessary for such sites.
There are a total of 5 dives necessary to complete the course.
The required 2 Core dives are Deep and Underwater Navigation.
You can choose the remaining 3 Adventure Dives. This course is
for newly certified divers as well as divers with more experience
who wish to expand their knowledge and practical skills. Also, if
continued
you don't have enough time to complete the full AOW course,
the Adventure Diver rating is awarded after completion after
any 3 Adventure Dives.
Why should you take the Advanced Open Water Course?
Open Water Divers have learned the basics, the "how" of diving.
After a few dives, there is a need to expand that dive knowledge
and learn practical skills which can increase your enjoyment of
diving. Ever surface far away from the boat and have a long sur-
face swim back? With the Navigation dive, you will learn how to
prevent that situation, using compass as well as natural naviga-
tional aids to assist in your underwater journey. For deep diving,
there are special concerns, and as an Open Water Diver, you are
certified to dive 18 meters/60 feet. After completing the AOW
course, that level is extended to 30 meters/100 feet.
If you really want to advance your skills and be more comforta-
ble in the water, taking this course is the way to do it. We have
openings for OUR Beaver lake trips. Give us a call and schedule
your course today!
PADI DEEP DIVER TRAINING
The purpose of the PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course is to
familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organi-
zation, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoy-
ment of diving between the depths of 60 feet to 130 feet.
The Deep Diver specialty course is intended to serve as a
safe, supervised introduction to deeper diving within the
limits of recreational scuba diving.
Now that you have several dives,
you may want to do deeper
dives. The Deep Diver course will
get you over the apprehension of
the unknown and give you more
confidence through knowledge
5 Great Reasons to go Scuba Diving on Roatan Scuba diving on Roatan Roatan is often called the jewel of the Caribbean because of its many amazing features - its lush, hilly land-scape, azure waters, the friendly people and diverse and rich culture. Its claim to fame is, of course, its amazing reefs and marine life, so going scuba diving should be on the top of your "to do" list when you visit! Even if you've traveled to other popular dive destinations without going diving, here are 5 great rea-sons to go scuba diving on Roatan! Reason 1. The dive sites are super close Since the reef starts only a few hundred feet from land, the entire island is basically one giant dive site. From West End alone, we have over 30 dive sites within a 10 minute boat ride, which means less time on the boat and more time in the water! Most dive centers run single tank trips because of the proximity of the dive sites to the dive centers, so you have the choice of one, two or three dives in the day and can spend your surface intervals comfortably on the beach with a cold lemonade (or beer, but only after div-ing!) in hand. Reason 2. So nice, but you don't have to do them twice The benefit of having so many dive sites in such close proximity means that unless you request to repeat a site, you don't have to. Obviously, if you're doing 50 dives out of West End, then yes, you will end up re-peating some sites, but it's very easy to create variety in your diving experience. The West Bay area is filled with sand chutes, coral plateaus and mini-walls, while you get cool canyons and deep walls as you move towards Sandy Bay, so there are loads of cool topographies and points of in-terest to explore. Reason 3. Diving a healthy reef in a protected marine park The Roatan Marine Park was started as a grassroots movement 10 years ago to add additional protection to the marine reserve already set in place by the Honduran government. The last ten years have been a long battle for the Roatan Marine Park, but the fruits of their labor are defi-nitely showing. In the Healthy Reefs 2015 Report Card for the Mesoamerican Reef, Roatan ranked highest in coral health and fish populations. Many other famous dive destinations, like the Great Barrier Reef, were not so lucky. The continued work that the Roatan Marine Park does in conservation is what helps preserve Roatan’s beautiful reef for many more years to come, so make sure to support them by purchasing a $3 daily ticket or $10 yearly bracelet. Reason 4. Calm, clear conditions with mild currents Throughout most of the year, we enjoy relatively calm, flat water on the surface, with underwater visibility averaging around 100ft/30m. While currents can vary from day to day, we usually have mild currents that make scuba diving a much more relaxing and enjoyable experience. When the weather does get rough on the north side of the island, many dive shops in Roatan have the flexibility to dive on the south side of the island, where you can once again find calm, flat conditions for diving. This type of flexibility is practically unheard of in most popular dive destina-tions. Reason 5. Diverse marine life While our colorful marine life population ties in strongly with Reason 3, we couldn't help but shine a special light on Roatan's underwater inhabit-ants. Whether you enjoy some of the bigger creatures or enjoy spotting the smaller, more hidden invertebrates we have it all! By having a healthy reef, it in turn brings in a variety of fish, crustaceans, bottom dwellers, shrimps and pelagic fish to these warm Caribbean waters. So there you have it, 5 great reasons to go scuba diving on Roatan! If you're not a certi-fied diver, there are plenty of ways you can still interact with Roatan’s marine world, whether it be with snorkeling or with the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program. The life on land isn’t too shabby, either, so start planning your trip to Roatan today or let us do it for you from Nov 2-9 2019.
Scubapro MK17 EVO/G260 Regulator
The new MK17 EVO is Scubapro's premium high performance bal-
anced diaphragm first stage. Engineered specifically for cold water
and harsh environments, its internal components are completely
sealed off from the elements so neither water nor pollution can get
inside the chrome-plated marine grade brass body to foul the
mechanism. This total sealing system also allows for a dry ambient
pressure chamber which works to prevent freezing, provides better
protection and improves performance, ensuring trouble-free opera-
tion no matter how cold or murky the water gets. Now think about
it, if this regulator performance flawlessly in cold water it will also
be a phenomenal regulator in warm temperate waters. This is just
simply a great regulator at a great value.
