"John Mattone taps into his years of experience to help leaders become the best leaders they can be."
Marshall Goldsmith, author of 31 books including The New York Times bestsellers ‘MOJO’ and
‘What Got You Here Won’t Get You There’.
This powerful leadership “immersion” experience is based on John Mattone’s Amazon/CEO Read/Inc.
Magazine best-selling book, Intelligent Leadership: How to Unlock Your Full-Potential. The core of this
powerful and truly unique leadership development experience is John’s Wheel of Intelligent Leadership and
the multi-faceted learning approach he will use to help leaders and future leaders think (and act) differently
about leadership as a foundation to their becoming the absolute best leaders they can be. He reveals his key
insights for unlocking and unleashing greatness in yourself and your teams so you can create a compelling,
winning culture that consistently drives breakthrough results.

** Executive Coaching Options Post-Retreat are Available (Please contact ICBE)
1. Mattone Leadership Enneagram Inventory-MLEI (Pre-Retreat) &
Executive Coaching Debrief (Pre-Retreat)
Behavior change begins with an awareness of “inner-core” and “outer-core” strengths and areas for
improvement.
The Mattone Leadership Enneagram Inventory (MLEI), is a powerful leadership
assessment tool that will provide you with a framework and roadmap for exploring and
distinguishing between the nine distinct traits that reflect the relative health and vibrancy (i.e.,
your executive maturity) of your “inner-core”.
Your MLEI results present a powerful foundation for helping you—the leader or future
leader, regardless of level. During our pre-Retreat coaching debrief, I will help you gain a
granular understanding of the degree of maturity that you exhibit in the values, thoughts,
emotions, and behaviors of your own predominant trait, as well as in the other eight traits
that comprise your unique leadership fingerprint. You will learn that successful leadership
is less a function of your predominant trait and much more a function of the relative
maturity with which you evidence your predominant trait—and each of your other eight
traits. As you progress through the retreat, you will learn specific strategies for
strengthening your executive maturity as a key foundation to strengthening your leadership
competencies (i.e., “outer-core”). Greatness as a leader starts with having a strong “inner-
core”.
2. Intelligent Leadership Retreat Content
Powerful content to challenge existing mental models and inspire introspection.
John Mattone utilizes his proprietary "Leadership Maturity Model" as the foundation
for teaching you the predictive components that will unlock and unleash your full
potential. These components include: (1) the core of achieving emotional maturity--
possessing a strong self-awareness, self-concept, values, and optimistic belief system;
(2) positive thinking; (3) positive emotions that empower both the leader and others;
and (4) possessing the skills to execute mature leadership behaviors and competencies
that drive leadership success.
* Every participant will receive a pre-Retreat Letter welcoming them (this letter is now available through ICBE)

3. Peer Learning Activities
Learning is retained through collaborative critique and application to real-life situations
Throughout the course of this retreat, you will participate in three separate “cohort”
learning activities that will encourage you to: (1) collaborate with your peers and
“reflect” individually and collectively to enhance retention; and (2) apply the content
and key learnings to real business/leadership challenges. The three learning activities
are:
• Your Leadership Story
• Strengthening Your Predominant Trait
• Strengthening Your Least Mature Trait
4. Individual Leadership Development Plan (ILDP’s)
Leadership strengths, development needs and targeted action-plans are finely-tuned based on
integrating MLEI assessment results , recent performance review results and recent 360’s if available).
Prior to our final morning session, you will have the opportunity to create your
custom Individual Leadership Development Plan (ILDP) based on your
assessment results, recent performance reviews (and/or 360-degree feedback) and
what you learned about yourself by participating in your cohort sessions. You will
use John’s proprietary Assessment-Driven Individual Development Planning Tool to guide
the creation of your ILDP. You will be asked to present your ILDP to the group as
part of the final morning session for feedback and suggestions going-forward.
5. Post-Retreat (3 months) “Mini-Survey” Feedback from Stakeholders
Accountability for leadership growth and development through stakeholder involvement and feedback
The “Mini-survey” 360-degree surveys are tools to measure the your ILDP progress
from three key stakeholders (your manager being one). By measuring your post-
Retreat progress, you can stay focused on leveraging your leadership strengths and
addressing your most important development needs. This monitoring is not only
essential for ensuring your success, it is also a great way to prove and verify the ROI
associated with your leadership development “immersion” experience.
With the assistance of the ICBE staff, we will distribute your unique “mini-survey” to
your three stakeholders three months post-Retreat. The process of administering your
“mini-survey” is beneficial in two ways: (1) it reinforces to your stakeholders that you
are dedicated to becoming the best leader you can be; and (2) it actively involves your
stakeholders in your ongoing development as a leader. Once we have received your
“mini-survey” feedback, we will then prepare your individualized,
confidential “mini-survey” report.
* Prior to the conclusion of our Retreat, you will be asked to identify your three stakeholders. I will
address the protocol for meeting with each of your stakeholders, sharing your ILDP with them,
gathering their feedback, and letting them know that you will be committing to the development goals
identified in the ILDP and will ask for their formal feedback via “min-survey” in three months.
