What We Are Learning in Room 12 Reading –This week we started guided reading groups! It is so amazing to see the students reading in a small group! They were AWESOME! This week we have been talking about and reviewing what to do when you get stuck on a word, and also about the purposes of reading different types of text nonfiction or fiction. Writing – In Writing Workshop, we learned about revising! Which means we are making our work look and sound better for our readers! We learned that we can add to our pictures and words to make it better or we can take things away from our pictures and our words to improve our writing. Our story for the week was called Pigsty, and the kids enjoyed writing about their messy rooms! Math – In math this week, we finished chapter 1 all about addition! We reviewed Chapter using our math bins on Thursday, and we took our very first math test today! Next week we will begin looking at place value! Social Studies/Science: This week in science we have started talking about what is science and what a scientist does! The kids were so excited for our first experiment we did today!
