T A F presents the S for the fifth time from May to June 2015. A is the

name of the Japanese Goddess of the Sun and in this respect

the Foundation symbolically links the opening of the annual

editions of the festival with the rising of light and hope and

with the belief that they will be able to save us from the

machine of the daily grind.

The first panel of the Fest was in March in the city of

Fukuoka, in the heart of Japan. The festival was invited as

part of the N project, organized by a group of artists

from Japan and Korea and aimed at an intercultural dialogue

between Europe and Asia.

The international A A M P A

E is the predecessor of the S P A F

and is traditionally presented at the Art Alley Gallery, where

the awards will be announced by the international jury on

May . Each year the contest presents young artists and

well-known international artists in the elegant gallery in

downtown Sofia. For seven years, the Foundation togetherwith the Art Alley Gallery have presented the Bulgarian

audience with more than 600 authors from 37 countries with

unique works of art created from paper.

The A exhibition and competition paved the way

for the appearance of the S P A F in 2011. It isthe biggest project of the A F in the

country and in the whole of Europe, related to paper art

in different areas visual art, cinema, theater, etc. This

makes it an important part of the cultural strategy of Sofia

2013 2023. Many of the authors who will be presented

are favorites of Art Alley and will participate in the Biennial

for Paper Art.

Traditionally, the participants will be presented and their

works displayed in Sofias cozy and artistic Art Alley Gallery,

the Foundations constant partner in the project. The

festival will open with the Biennial at the Vivacom Art Hall,

but the most anticipated event - the announcement of theawards will take place at the Art Alley Gallery.

Artists from Germany, Scotland, Japan, Switzerland andNorway are competing for the prizes and for the first time

so many Bulgarian authors have been nominated. With each

passing year interest is growing among young artists from

Bulgaria and foreign artists who admire unconventional

solutions and like to experiment.

Generally, the international jury is composed of renownedauthors from the International Association of Hand

Papermakers and Paper Artists (), which greatly

contributes to the fair decision of the jury. Quite often the

chosen works are made of high quality hand paper with a

clear and pure concept, but sometimes works that border

on design solutions and fine minimalist vision are selected.

This year the competition for the grand prize is between

three authors who have proven their achievements in many

international forums and the final decision will show which

of the works best fits this years concept Share Innovation.

The A G P was won by the Japanese artist

Yoshio Hasegawa.

The Art Alley Gallery is an iconic place for Sofia and a real

art oasis in the heart of the city. The beautiful old house,

blending history and present, will envelop you with the

magic power of art and the unique spirit of culture,

supported over the years by its creators gallerist SvetlanaGaneva and curator Stefan Popov. Thanks to the cooperation

between the Gallery and Amateras Foundation, this

exhibition will excite the capitals citizens for the seventh

time, and such a tradition is rare in the cultural life of Sofia.
