The primary mirror support system, secondary mirror supportsystem, spider as well as internal baffles, front & rear rings andall small parts are fully CNC machined from aluminum, stain-less steel or brass.

DESIGN

The primary mirror support cell has absolutely no mirror-shiftor mirror-flop. The fixed primary mirror also has axial andradial support and the unused outer portion of the primary mir-ror is masked. The primary mirror support and rear assembly are designed toprovide excellent ventilation and removal of internal residual

heat. Air circulation is accomplished via three axial fans.Included is an external on/off and speed control for the fans.Three adjustable rear assembly openings provide thermal con-vention adjustments to the primary mirror. Three point collimation of the primary mirror, each can be loc-ked into place once collimation is achieved. Fine adjustment settings for focal plan perpendicular on opti-cal axis. Computer optimized ray traced baffles on primary and secon-dary mirrors. Baffles are designed with internal micro baffles. The OTA’s back-focus can be adjusted by shifting the seconda-ry mirror shifting along very high precision guides. Typical set-tings are +/-10 mm (+/- 70 mm of back focus length) to allowthe user to achieve the for highest optical performance. Fine adjustment for secondary spider centering. Very thin yet strong four vane spider support. Simplified three point secondary mirror and primary mirror col-limation. The light path is fully baffled and coated with a very high qua-lity opaque paint to provide the highest degree of protection

The Scopic 300Me is a newly devised dobson and has been con-ceived, projected and made by Astrotech Engineering to sati-sfy the hardest to please visual watchers.The Scopic 300Me presents some important innovations:- it is entirely made of alluminium, teflon and plexiglas;- you can assemble and disassemble it very rapidly (in less than30"!)- it has a versatile pointing system with a green laser beam(532 nm);- conditioned ventilation system on the mirror with laminarflux to assure a quick thermic settlement and reduce the tur-bulence of the instruments;-rechargeable internal battery;-primary and secondary mirror by the prestigious firm Orion

less than 30 "…and you are ready to watch the sky!

1. The Scopic 300Me is provided with an excellent helicoidalfocuser BORG 2" that can be put inside the tube, when thetelescope is disassembled, thanks to a fixing system.

2. Once you have pulled the telescopic tube out, you just haveto take out the focuser from its housing and settle it on thetube by means of two knobs; the correct assembly is assuredby means of a couple of dowels.

3. The current production Scopic 300Me is provided with a veryefficient green laser finder (532 nm) that projects a beam oflight on the sky and assures a very quick and versatile alt-azi-

muthal pointing.

4. The Scopic 300Me has been projected to assure a per-fect balancing with a smooth manual tracking; however, whenit is necessary, it can be used with any eyepiece by means oftwo adjustable clutches;

5. A couple of fans assures a quick thermic settlement of theinstrument; a special slot guarantees a laminar flux on the pri-mary mirror that helps to minimize the turbulence of theinstrument and give a steadier image.

6. The fans are fed by an internal rechargeable battery of12Vcc, which can be easily pulled out of its housing to berecharged.

7. The primary mirror is housed in a cell provided with ninetaxiing fulcrums and has been projected to avoid any tensionon the mirror itself.

8. The three knobs and internal springs make the primary mir-ror collimate quickly and very easily.9. A ray-tracing software has bettered the dimension and theposition of some internal buffles, thus assuring a higher con-trast of the image.10. The current production provides a solar filter made ofAstrosolar (90 mm eccentric hole) that, with some magneticclamps, can be easily put on the end of the tube or, if you donot need it, on the side of the base of the tube.
