Calendar of EventsProgram events will expose Fellows to models of corporate and

civic leadership, as well as top government officials and CEOs.

Government OfficialsMeetings are scheduled with key Federal, City and State officials

to discuss issues relevant to New York City. Fellows have met

with former U.S. presidents, the Governor, the State Attorney

General and Comptroller, former mayors, New York City borough

presidents and City Council speakers, deputy mayors, Department

of Education chancellors, City commissioners and the Executive

Director of the Metropolitan Transit Authority.

Private and Civic Sector LeadersFellows also have an opportunity to meet with private and civic

sector leaders who are at the forefront of issues affecting the city.

These leaders provide personal insight on the benefits of public-

private partnerships, the significance of enhancing corporate

citizenship and the importance of helping to maintain New York

City’s position as the global center of commerce.

Site VisitsIn order to provide a first-hand view of some of the issues

affecting the city, site visits and tours are occasionally scheduled

to complement meetings and have included: City Hall, NYPD

headquarters and crime management operations; Office of

Emergency Management headquarters; NYC water supply reservoir

and tunnel excavation; affordable housing and community

development sites in the Bronx and Harlem; Rikers Island Prison;

public high schools and charter schools; Manhattan Family Court;

and several arts and cultural institutions.

What David Rockefeller Fellow Alumni Have to Say About the Program

“The DR Fellows program opened my eyes to the broad array of public policy challenges New York City leaders face. As I became more familiar with the challenges, I also became more determined than ever to dedicate my career to those challenges.”

“The Fellows Program gave me direct and substantive experience in how New York City government serves its diverse population. It has reinvigorated my interest in city politics and has motivated me to be an active and engaged leader.”

“The opportunity to hear Howard Rubenstein, Shelly Lazarus, Terry Lundgren and Chancellor Joel Klein speak candidly about their experiences and their love for New York City inspired me. Each provided a different roadmap for how to accomplish things as a leader in business and in the very complicated and competitive environment of the city.”

“The Partnership’s credibility with top government and business executives has provided a halo to the Fellows, expanding both our access and ability to influence the leadership of New York. Given the personal and professional demands on our time, the Fellowship offers a rare chance to develop intimate relationships with a dynamic group of peers, each committed to sharing their knowledge and relationships with the other Fellows. The shared experiences create bonds that transcend the formal bounds of the program.”
