we, AIESEC in FEP, are very glad to receive you as participants ofthe International Alumni Congress 2015.

We welcome you to Portugal and hope that during thisconference you get to know our amazing country, especially theNorth of Portugal, and all that it has to offer.

In this booklet you will find much information about our countryand city and also the most important information that you mustknow, in order to bring you the most convenient access. Pleaseread it all carefully before coming.

- Suggested Airport: Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (Porto). The CC Team will have astand there in the 8th of March the entire day and until 2 p.m of the next day

- Pick up Transportation: the CC guarantees transportation from Francisco SáCarneiro Airport, Campanhã Station or Batalha Station.

- at the airport: pickups at 9 a.m, 12 a.m and 2 p.m on the 9th March; as for the8th of March, information will be provided later, depending on the arrivals;

- Information about the drop-offs will be provided on the 2nd of April

For people arriving on different days than the 8th or the 9th of April, onthe 2nd of April we will also send more information about ways to getto Porto or Ofir and we will help you in any way possible (we cannotguarantee transportation on that days, but if possible we will provide it).

The International Alumni Conference will start in Porto at Alfândegado Porto on 9th of April. Alfândega holds a congress center and TheTransport and Communication Museum and Association. The centerwas first opened in 1869, but the construction was only finished tenyears later.

After the start of the conference at Alfândega do Porto we will visit theDiscoveries Museum ("Museu dos Descobrimentos") a museuminaugurated on April 2014 where you can experience an historical epicjourney through the Portuguese Discoveries.

After the visit to the Discoveries Museum we will be having dinnerthere and then we will go to Ofir.

Due to the heavy agenda, the CC team advises all participants toarrive on the 8th of April to stay the night in Porto. As for hotel optionsfor that day, we will present you in the next pages two options (HotelInternacional and Hotel Dom Henrique).

Inform the CC at [email protected] the hotelyou prefer. The payment will be made in cash when you arrive at thehotel.

Conference Agenda - Special Events

Portuguese Night (10th of April)

The Portuguese Night will be held at Axis Ofir BeachResort Hotel on Friday night on the 10th of April. Theobjective of the Portuguese Night is to presentPortuguese food to all participants in the conferenceas well as some Portuguese cultural groups, such asfolk, fado, among others.

Gala Dinner (11th of April)

Gala Dinner will be held in Porto at a renoun placeon Saturday night on the 11th of April. It will be a

formal dinner, a moment of celebration and thereis a formal dress code.

Spouses AgendaFor the spouses that don’t want to attend thecongress sessions, the CC Team presents you analternative agenda:

The fee covering transportation is 20 euros and itwill be provided by CC Team members. Some of the places we will visit may have anaccess cost which will be paid then. The CC willinform you in advance about the costs so that youcan decide whether you will participate or not.

Study TourAfter the Congress we will have theStudy Tour, from the12th to the 15th of April.

The price for the Study Tour is:240 euros in case you want a doubleroom and 280 euros in case you wanta single room.

When travelling to Portugal, make sure you have your routinevaccination updated. Vaccines like measles-mumps-rubella (MMR)vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox)vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot.

From the beginning of foundation in 1959, AIESEC Portugal enables tocompanies and organizations with the international exchangeopportunity and impacts youth population of Portugal who is going tolead and add value to future generation.

AIESEC in Portugal is present in 5 cities with 8 offices covering almostall universities in the country. We have offices in University of Minho,University of Porto, University of Aveiro, University of Coimbra, ISCTE-IUL, ISEG, Nova University and Catholic University of Lisbon.

Throughout our 56-year history we have already created impact inover 56 countries from all over the world and we believe that, with thedevelopment of these international experiences, we are developingthe needed competencies to make the world a better place.

AIESEC in FEP (Faculty of Economics of Porto) was founded on the 10th ofFebruary of 1960 and it is both the second oldest AIESEC office in Portugal andthe second oldest organization at Porto University. At the moment we have 76members which we consider the main reason for our success.

It has constantly presented itself as a nationally strong office, being distinguishevery year in terms of performance and service quality. In 2008 AIESEC in FEP wasdistinguished amongst over 200 offices in the WENA region as the one with thehighest absolute growth in exchanges, proving the effort spirit andprofessionalism that marks us since our foundation.

Besides being responsible for the organization of the International AlumniCongress, AIESEC in FEP is this year also responsible for the organization ofEuroXpro’15, the biggest international conference for CEE (Central and EasternEurope) and WENA (Western Europe and North America) regions, which willgather more than 300 young leaders that will discuss the most important strategicdecisions for these regions, shaping the direction of our youth-driven organization.The organization of this two international AIESEC conferences is a proud momentfor AIESEC in FEP as it is also an historical one.

Portugal is the country that is on the southwest edge of Europe and it’s composedby the mainland part and two archipelagos, Azores and Madeira. It is well knownbecause of its discoveries around the globe and its charming and wonderfulseashore.

Due to its shore and pleasant climate, Portugal is among the 20 most visitedcountries in the world, receiving an average of 13 million foreign tourists eachyear. Because of that, tourism is playing a very important role in Portugueseeconomy. The main tourist regions can be broken-down into: the Greater Lisbon,the Algarve, Greater Porto and Northern Portugal, the Portuguese Archipelagos(Azores and Madeira) and Alentejo.

Credit Cards and ATMs: Usually hotels, shops and restaurants accept all major

credit cards and the ATMs are easy to find around the country.

Healthcare: Emergency treatment is free in all public hospitals.

Electricity: Portugal's standard electricity supply is 220 Volts (V),

50 Hertz (Hz). Portuguese plugs are the standard continental ones.

Supermarkets: Are usually open Monday to Sunday, 9h-21h.

Meals: Restaurants are normally open for lunch from 12h30 to 16h, and for dinner

from 19h to midnight.

Must Taste:

Codfish is a very important fish in Portugal.

There are many different recipes for

codfish, but "bacalhau com natas" is one of

the most famous.

Born in the middle ages, Porto conquers us by its history andauthenticity as well as its cosmopolitan and contemporary beauty.

Discovering Porto is being carried awayby the streets that lead us to the ribeiraand taste the famous Porto wine, go to thecaves and smell that unique aroma, go fora walk at the romantic gardens of townand contemplate the historicalmonuments, sit on a street café and listento the street entertainment, shop atsingular and alternative stores, taste thefrancesinha and go out at night to themost well-known bars.
