AAC Bare Aluminum

APPLICATION:This wire is suitable for use in spans on wood poles, transmission towers, and other structures where high tensile strength is not required. Applications range from extra high voltage (EHV) transmission lines to sub-service spans at distribution or utilization voltages on private premises.AAC (all aluminum conductor) is the most economical bare overhead conductor due to its lighter weight. It offers easier handling during installation and use of simpler fittings. The wire is corrosion resistant due to its homogeneous construction.

CONSTRUCTION:Aluminum alloy 1350 wires concentric lay stranded wrapped helically around a central wire. Each successive layer has six wires more than the previous underlying layer. Outer layer is right hand lay and reversed in successive layers.

ADDITIONAL STANDARDS:• ASTM B-230: Aluminum 1350-H19 wire for electrical

purposes.• ASTM B 231: Concentric Lay Stranded Aluminum 1350

APPLICATION:This wire is suitable for use in all practical spans on wood poles, transmission towers, and other structures. Applications range from long, extra high voltage (EHV) transmission lines to sub-service spans at distribution or utilization voltages on private premises. ACSR (aluminum conductor steel reinforced) has a long service record because of its economy, dependability, and strength to weight ratio. The combined light weight and high conductivity of aluminum with strength of the steel core en-ables higher tensions, less sag, and longer spans than any alternative.

CONSTRUCTION:A solid or concentric stranded central steel core is surrounded by one or more layers of concentric stranded aluminum alloy 1350. The wire is protected from corrosion with a zinc coating.

AAAC Bare Aluminum

APPLICATION:This wire is suitable for use in spans on wood poles, transmission towers, and other structures where AAC conductors do not provide the required strength and ACSR conductors are not required or suitable. Applications range from extra high voltage (EHV) transmission lines to sub-service spans at distribution or utilization voltages on private premises.

CONSTRUCTION:Bare aluminum alloy conductors made of 6201 Aluminum alloy are wrapped helically around a central wire.

ADDITIONAL STANDARDS:• ASTM B-398: Aluminum Alloy 6201-T81 aluminum alloy conductors• ASTM B-399: Concentric Lay stranded 6201-T81 aluminum alloy conductors

APPLICATION:For use in aerial, direct burial, cable tray, conduit, and underground duct installations as permitted by the National Electric Code. The cable is capable of operating continuously with a conductor temperature not to exceed 105⁰C for normal operation, 140⁰C for emergency overload conditions, and 250⁰C for short circuit conditions. It is rated at 15,000V with 133% insulation level (ungrounded system). Maximum sidewall pressure is 1000 lbs. This cable does not require the use of pulling lubricant.

CONSTRUCTION:Conductors: 8000 series aluminum compact conductor in accordance with ASTM specs B800and B801 and ICEA part 2, Section 2.1 and 2.5. Insulation: Ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) with a nominal thickness of 0.220 Insulation Shield: Extruded layer of semi-conducting thermosetting material which shall be identified as being semi-conducting. Over this layer will be applied a helically wrapped 5-mil copper tape with 25% overlap. Jacket: Sunlight resistant PVC per ICEA S-97-682, with average thickness in accordance to Table 7-3 of ICEA.Flame Tests: UL 1685 – 1/0 and larger, UL-CT Flame Exposure Test
