- Our profi les are extruded in alloys EN AW 6060 T66 / EN AW 6063 T6 as per DIN EN 755 T2.

- The window sills are equipped with elongated holes on the screw mounting edge (4 x 7 mm, distance approximately 300 mm). The standard delivery length is 6.015 mm.

- All window sills, except in mill fi nished, are foil coated delivered. Mill fi nished window sills can be foil coated on request.

The solution for application in external thermal insulation com-posite systems (ETICS)RAG² is the second generation of the suc-cessful patented R·B·B Aluminium sliding end piece. The end piece has been desig-ned specially for use in ETICS facades. It absorbs the thermally-induced movement of the aluminium outside window sill in its stur-dy EPDM expansion zone. Plaster cracks are thereby effectively prevented. It is easy to fi t and water-tight due to the sealing pad. The water is diverted safely away from the structure.

The newly designed version of RAG² K means that you can now rely on this proven technology for clinker and exposed facades. RAG² K has been designed specially for use in clin-ker and exposed facades. It enables users to create a window sill connection with permanent protection against driving rain. The new end piece also offers the known benefi ts of RAG² including integrated expansion compensation, in which the thermally-induced movement of the aluminium outside window sill is absorbed by the resilient EPDM expansion zone.

Its straightforward construction makes the new RAG² K extre-mely versatile and easy to fi t.

Mounting instructions:

The RBB Aluminium sliding connector has to be fi tted in combination with our window sill sealing system or a pre-compressed gap sealing tape (strain category BG1). Prior to bolting the connector the fi tting edge has to be sealed. Mounting of the TPE seal: the screw mounting edge of the sliding connector has to be overlapped by the sealing. (Image 3)

The RAG²-fi x bracket absorbs all residual forces which can develop from the compression of the EPDM sealing pad in the RAG²- sliding end piece caused by heat expansion of the window sill.This simple solution means that in particular non pressure-resistant facade structures (e.g. mineral wool) are effectively protected from render cracking.

Before installing the window sill the RAG²-fi x has to be screwed left and right onto the window sill end-profi le. To this you will fi nd pre-assembled screw holes at the rear side of the bracket. The distance complies exactly with the clip on- outer diameter of the RAG² system. This has to be put on the bracket afterward and also be mounted onto the window sill end-profi le. In order to use the bracket RAG²- the window sill requires a nosing of at least 50 mm.

Mounting instructions:In order to achieve and guarantee the optimal sealing within the ETICS, the RAG² has to be mounted in conjunction with our window sill series FBS 40 / FBS 25 and the RBB TPE- seal or a pre-compressed gap sealing tape (strain category BG1). The sliding end piece has to fi t exactly, edge to edge to the screw mounting edge. In case of a bad fi t of the window sill and the sealing pad you can’t achieve an optimal tightness. Therefore it is very important to ensure a correct fi t of the sealing lip and the sealing pad. In order to ensure a trouble free fi tting of the window sill into the sealing pad the saw cut has to be deburred (also see mounting instructions on page 28).

Special features

The test set-up ensures visibility of the window sill joints from

the bottom. The internal joint was provided by a Plexiglas

(PMMA) pane with airtight wall joints (simulation of airtight joint

between window and wall). The side joints between window sill

and wall (reveal) were sealed with resilient sealant.

Punching process:

End pieces can be notched in pairs. Every punching process notches the end pieces by 20 mm in depth and 42 mm in width. The not-ching width can be adjusted to the required dimensions down to the millimetre using a measuring scale. With RAG² notching, at least 5 mm of the plaster edge will automatically remain at the end of the screw mounting edge to provide a stop for the sealing pad. Thermally isolated window sill brackets for ETICS facades14 Thermally isola14

The new brackets ISO 40 TG and ISO 25 TG are the perfect finishing touch for the RAG² system in high-quality external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS). On the one hand they prevent the move of the aluminium window sill during the mounting of the insulating panels of the ETICS system and furthermore they serve as stabilisa-tion during the wind load. In accordance with the actual installation recomendations, the window sill brackets have to be used up to an overhang of 150 mm. The distance between the lateral end pieces shall be left and right in each case not bigger as 400 mm. The distance between the individual bra-ckets may not exceed 1.000 mm. A distance of 600 mm is recommended.

Thermally isolated bracket options prevent the heat bridges which can form with solid aluminium brackets. These brackets therefore make a positive contribution to energy savings and avoidance of secondary damage (e.g. due to condensation) in the ETICS.The insulation thicknesses of 80-340 mm can be bridged variably with the brackets ISO 40 TG and ISO 25 TG. Special solutions are possible on request.

Care products

Aluminium components in outdoor areas depending on local conditions underlie dirt and dust deposits. Therefore the profi les should be cleaned from time to time. The cleaning should be done with warm water using common household dish detergent with help of sponges, towels or metal free brushes.

Care products for anodized surfaces

Anodized surfaces are very robust. In order to maintain the surface appearance of any anodized layers a certain care is essential. For this purpose we recommend the aluminium polish that has been suggested by the aluminium centre and has stood the test of time. It cleans, maintains and preserves in one working step. The abrasive effect is quite soft, so that despite the good cleaning effect the surface is spared.

Cleaning stone for anodized surfaces

The cleaning stone is recommended particularly for smaller, damaged or dirty anodized surfaces.It is an intense cleaning agent which tackles stubborn dirt. It should be used with care to prevent discolouration from occurring.

We recommend our Color Repair pens for touching up small scratches or minor damage. For colour matching aluminium parts over large areas we recommend our Colorspray. Mounting instructions

In order to prevent any constructional damages, it is imperative for the processor to follow the assembly instructions. They are the basis for correct installation. Furthermore, the RAL quality mark guidelines for assembly of windows and doors apply by installati-on. To order call +49 (0) 69 / 95 50 54-0 RAL - Gütegemeinschaft FfM. Furthermore the recommendations to install metall window sills apply to the general community of goods- insulation by facades e.V. (GWF). When installing aluminium window sills, it is necessary to account an elongation of up to 1.2 mm per meter for a temperature diffe-rence of 50°C. For this reason, sections from a total length of over 3.000 mm need to be divided and joined using an H-connector or sliding connector.

The expansion joint should be at least 20 mm; recommended are 30 - 50 mm.

Assembly should be performed using V2A or galvanised screws including washers and cover caps. The window sill must have a slant of at least 5° (+/- 1,5°).To dampen noise in the event of rainfall we recommend the use of self-adhesive noise reduction strips underneath the window sill.

The use of brackets is recommended starting at a overhang of 150 mm.The lateral distance of the brackets to the end piece shouldn’t exceed 400 mm each left and right. The distance between the single brackets should only be a maximum of 1.000 mm. Recommended is a distance of 600 mm. Depending on the installation circumstances the usage of brackets below a nosing of 150 mm could be necessary. In case of installing window sills without sliding functions like plaster- clinker or plastic we refer to the recommendations regarding water proof installation.

Particularly by buildings with upgraded insulation facades we recommend the usage of our RBB Aluminium sliding end piece RAG² to achieve an optimal expansion compensation to assure solidity (see mounting reference page 7) For ETICS wall-mounting in mineral wool we recommend the usage of RAG²-fi x brackets to counteract with the forces in the embrasure.

The self-adhesive protective foil has to be removed after mounting within three months of the facade being fi nished. It offers protection from mechanical strains, such as lime, plaster or mortar, during installation.

Out of decorative reasons we do not recommend untreated aluminium parts in anodized surfaces window sills without a fi nish.

RBB Aluminium system products are only available at qualifi ed local dealers.

Surface treatment of aluminum

The surface treatment of aluminum offers several possibilitiesThere are two basic methods:Powder coating (according to GSB / RAL) and anodic oxidation (with GAA / EURAS).

Anodizing aluminium

The anodic oxidation or anodizing develops a dense, hard oxide layer on the metal surface, which is solidly connected to the base material.

In addition, the oxide layer can be colored, so that the decorative effect is increased.

Through the electrolytic process a variety of different colours can be perceived.

Anodized aluminium can simply be recovered for re-processing and recycling. Thereby this procedure re-presents an environmentally friendly form of surface treatment.

Anodized surfaces: according to DIN 17611

Powder coating of aluminium

Powder coating is a process in which electro stati-cally charged powder emerges on grounded alumi-nium parts.

In the melt down oven the powder is liquefi ed. In that process a solid plastic fi lm is developed, this is signalized by a high resistance of the environ-ment and mechanical stress.

A pre-treatment of aluminium profi les is required in order to archive durability and high quality coating. The preferred technique is to chromate according to DIN EN 12487.

This, our standard pre-treatment is necessary to achieve a fl awless adhesion of the coating on the substrate (aluminium) and also functions as a cor-rosion protection.

Due to not using any solvents the electrostatic pow-der coating is environmentally friendly. It also fea-tures a powder recovery with high effi ciency.
