Throughout the year, students from all over the U.S. give their

time and energy to aid in the New Orleans’ recovery.

Students like YOU taking time to improve the lives of the citizens

of New Orleans.

26 Meramec students & faculty made the 13 hour drive to New Orleans to

join other students in helping Operation Nehemiah restore the Lower 9th Ward.

We drove to New Orleans on Sunday,Worked and played Monday through

Thursday,Then drove back on Friday.

We worked for one day gutting a nursing home in the Lower 9th Ward that hadn’t

been touched since Katrina.

St. Gabriel ChurchSt. Gabriel ChurchWe spent the next 3 days restoring an

elementary school in the Upper 9th Ward. We planted a garden, replaced the

gymnasium floor, and cleaned out their mold infested storage room.

AccommodationsAccommodationsWe stayed in dormitories provided by Operation Nehemiah, conveniently located downtown.

They provided us with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

New OrleansNew OrleansAt night, we explored the city . . .

On Thursday, an instructor from Delgado Community College gave us a tour of the Lower 9th Ward, which

Brad Pitt’s Make it Right project has changed from rubble to wonderful.
