The reading comprehension passages will ask you to do the following: -select the main idea-judge the message of the author-select the most fitting title for the piece-identifying specific things about the passage-implying things about the passage even though they are not directly stated-identifying the tone or mood of the passage-identifying vocabulary in the context of the passage
The Composition part of the test will ask you to do all of the following: -fix basic grammar errors, especially punctuation, run-ons, and fragments-combine sentences to create better writing-infer ideas into the passage-pick the most appropriate title for the passage
You should use a highlighter to emphasize important parts of reading passages and key words in questions.
You should read the questions for a reading passage before reading the selection.

Mark out the distracter answers in questions so you don’t get tricked by a “charming” answer.
Give yourself breaks without falling asleep by chewing a new piece of gum every half an hour.
Do not spend more than one minute per question the first time around. Move on if you don’t know the answer.
Leave the answer blank on the bubble sheet if you don’t know the answer and come back to it at the end.
Do not second-guess yourself; always go with your first instinct on an answer.
