"He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man's ears and, spitting, touched his tongue." Jesus could have healed this deaf man another way. He could have spoken a powerful word or, for that matter, just silently willed that the man's health be restored. It wasn't uncommon for Jesus to cure people simply by a quick touch. But instead, Jesus chose to heal him in this unique way. He made it a private event, one that involved an unusual kind of physical ritual. Clearly, this was not for Jesus' sake. And since it was away from the crowd, it wasn't for their sake either. This particular healing was for this particular man. For whatever reason, Jesus knew that this man needed these signs--touching his ears and putting saliva on his tongue--in order to be freed of his inability to hear and speak well. Jesus knows what we need. His care for each and every one of us is not some standardized package of generic charity. He loves us all as unique individuals and understands us. He sees our weaknesses and knows our strengths. He offers himself to us as an intimate friend, not an unfamiliar acquaintance. When we come to him with our hopes, our fears, our desires and needs, he hears and answers us ... in the way he knows is best. It might seem odd. It might be unexpected or different from what we have seen him do for others. But we need to trust, even when we are desperate for "healing," that Jesus does care, that he does listen, and that he does act on our behalf. Let us have confidence in today's Old Testament proclamation from Isaiah: "Thus says the LORD: Say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not! Here is your God ... he comes to save you." LPI, Inc.

LPI, Inc.

Often people attend Mass at All Souls for several years, but never register. Registering here is a declaration of your desire to be part of a Catholic community and to make a commitment to the life of

All Souls Church. Being a registered parishioner makes the process much easier when it is time for infant baptism, school or religious education registration, weddings, when asked to be a baptismal or confirmation sponsor, and even funerals. A registered parishioner receives all parish mailings, too. Church law advises that territories or boundaries no longer limit parish registration. All Souls accepts anyone who wants to share in the life of the parish regardless of where they live. In order to register, you need to complete a which registration card. These may be found narthex of the church or chapel, the parish office during the week or online at our parish website: www.allsoulssanford.org. Why not sign up today? We Welcome our new parishioners:

Those committees will report their findings to the parish at the upcoming meeting. At the conclusion of the committee reports, we will open the meeting for questions and answers. CCM

I would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to all of you serving as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion at All Souls. We are in need of individuals (presently serving in our parish as EMHC’s) to serve in our Ministry to the Sick (MTS). Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick take communion to those who cannot attend Mass because of illness, injury or age issues. These ministers keep parishioners connected to our parish and bring them the comfort and strength of the Eucharist during difficult times in their lives. We minister to people in their homes, in nursing homes, assisted living facilities , hospitals, and retirement communities within our parish. Time commitment for this ministry varies by minister. Some choose to commit to bringing communion to a homebound parishioner weekly for many years. Ministers choose the commitments that fit their work schedule and family needs. We firmly believe that the Holy Spirit guides our Minister to the homebound parishioner who needs them the most. If you would be willing to offer your time and prayerful support to those that are unable to attend Mass, your involvement as a MTS member would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Adam Heyboer at 407.697.4402 for more information. God bless you, Father Gilbert Medina.
