HOLY MASSSCHEDULE

November 1st Church celebrates all the saints: canonized or beatified, and the multitude of those who are in heaven enjoying the beatific vision that are only known to God. During the early cen-turies the Saints venerated by the Church were all martyrs. Later on the Popes set November 1 as the day for commemorating all the Saints. We all have this "universal call to holiness." What must we to do in order to join the company of the saints in heaven? We "must follow in His footsteps and conform [our]selves to His image seeking the will of the Father in all things. [We] must devote [our]selves with all [our] being to the glory of God and the service of [our] neighbor. In this way, the holiness of the People of God will grow into an abundant harvest of good, as is admirably shown by the life of so many saints in Church history" During the year the Church celebrates one by one the feasts of the saints. Today she joins them all in one festival. In addi-tion to those whose names she knows, she recalls in a magnificent vision all the others "of all nations and tribes standing before the throne and in sight of the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands, proclaiming Him who redeemed them in His Blood."

All Souls Day is a holy day set aside for honoring the dead. The day is primarily celebrated in the Catholic Church, According to Catholic belief, the soul of a person who dies can go to one of three places. The first is heaven, where a person who dies in a state of perfect grace and communion with God goes. The second is hell, where those who die in a state of mortal sin are naturally condemned by their choice. The inter-mediate option is purgatory, which is thought to be where most people, free of mortal sin, but still in a state of lesser (venial) sin, must go.Don't forget to pray for the Poor Souls in Purga-tory from November 1 to the 8th. Purgatory is necessary so that souls can be cleansed and perfected before they enter into heaven. There is scrip-tural basis for this belief. The primary reference is in 2 Macca-bees, 12:26 and 12:32. "Turning to supplication, they prayed that the sinful deed might be fully blotted out... Thus made atonement for the dead that they might be free from sin."

There is no perfect family. We don’t have perfect parents, we are not pefect, we don’t get married with a perfect person nor do we have perfect kids. We have complaints of each other. We were disappointed to each other. Therefore, there is no healthy marriage or healthy family with-out the exercise of forgiveness. Forgiveness is vital to our emotional health and spiritual survival. Without forgiveness the family becomes a theature of con-flict and bastion of grievances. Without forgiveness the family gets sick. Forgiveness vital-

ises the soul, by cleaning the mind and liber-ating the heart. Who does not forgive has no peace of soil or communion with God. The pain is a position that intocicates and kills. Heal a wound of the heart if it is a self-destructive gesture. Who does not for-give sickens himself physically, emotionally and spiritually. That’s why the family has to be place of life and not of death; territory of healing and not of disease; stage of forgive-ness and not of guilt. Forgiveness brings joy where soeeow produced pain; and healing, whete pain caused disease.
