Solo Recital Competition Winner First Prize
Elena Gribelyuk CT, piano
Elena Gribelyuk has been studying piano with Svitlana Fiorito for the past five years. In 2010 Elena received two first prizes at the CSMTA competition and at the Crescendo Little Mozart competition, which led to a recital in Carnegie Hall. In 2011 Elena was awarded 1st Place and Best Performance of Baroque Music at the Piano Teacher’s Congress of NY. Also, she received 2nd Place at the Schubert Club Piano Awards. Lastly, Elena performed Mozart Concerto #17 with the North Shore Symphony Orchestra. In 2012 Elena received top prizes at the Schubert Club Competition and Audrey Thayer Competition. Additionally, Elena was invited to perform at
the Lincoln Center 2012 Concert Festival Winners’ recital. Later, she was recognized as a community service contributor when she played at Atria Senior Residence in Darien, CT. Lastly, Elena performed in two solo recitals that were held at Trumbull Library and at King School. In 2013 and 2014, Elena won Second Place at the Audrey Thayer Piano Competition. She won 1st prize in both the Schubert Club Bach awards and the Schubert Club Chopin awards as well as 1st prize at the CSMTA competition. Also, she was recognized as the Grand Prize Winner of the Concert Festival International Competition, which led to her second performance at Carnegie Hall in 2014. Elena was chosen to be the Connecticut state representative in the divisional competition of MTNA twice, in 2013 and 2014. Additionally, she has given multiple recitals in senior homes in 2014 and 2015. Elena is a 9th grade student at King School in Stamford, CT. Her favorite subject is math which she studies two levels above her grade level. As a result, she is a high-scoring member of the Math Team and travels to math team competitions with the team six times a year.
