The Control of Acid Mine Drainage

Page 3: All of these organizations

Acid Mine drainage can have a severe impact on the water quality of receiving streams. Acid mine drainage is so highly acidic that fish and other aquatic animals and plants simply cannot survive. Acid mine drainage contains high levels of dissolved metals and sediment. The sedimentation covers the bottom of the stream making feeding and breeding impossible. Left untreated, these conditions can destroy a watershed.

Has designed a system for the purpose of environmental protection of the waters of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and any other state or municipality which may have the need for in-situ treatment of the byproducts of pyritic sulfur oxidation or any other compound associated with adverse water quality which can be abated by the use of recirculating, oxygenating, buffering or flocculating.

This radical new system is the beginning to eliminating your acid mine drainage problems surrounding your company.

This system is not designed to treat discharges but is designed to eliminate the need for treatment. This new system is called …

“The Exodus System”

The primary function of the Exodus System is to eliminate the deposition of heavy metals into the surface waters of the United States.

While this system may be used for the elimination of volatile organics, acidic or alkaline waters, sulfates and other contaminants, it’s primary function is to keep unwanted contaminants in a chemical phase which is not dangerous to the public or environment.

More specifically to eliminate the occurrence of Acid Mine Drainage.

Page 8: All of these organizations

“The Exodus System”

The Exodus System allows a greater retention time in an environment with an optimum pH and dissolved oxygen level to allow precipitation of all unwanted contaminants in the mine/aquifer where the contaminants originated.

Mining companies will be able to make their regulatory “Exodus” from a mine where the potential or reality of long-term treatment would be financially devastating.

“The Exodus System”

Municipal water companies can now explore pretreatment of underground water systems thus making abandoned mines and other ground water systems a viable source for drinking water.

The use of this system in remediation of organic contaminants is unlimited as aerobic microbes may be used to clean up spills that have infiltrated ground water systems.

Before the Exodus System, these buildings served as

the only means of treating the acid mine drainage.

Mine Entrance Reclaimed

Long Chain Polymers and Caustic Soda was used to treat an ongoing problem.

Reacting to an on-going problem month after month is not the solution.

Here is the pro-active solution to eliminate the problem of acid mine drainage.

The mine is filled with highly acidic water.

The Exodus System sits on this

Contour. The system begins to treat the water while it lies inside of the mine. A series of lines

delivers the treated water to

the receiving stream and underlying

ponds via the pump

mechanisms

To consolidate precipitates to the pond(s), the Aqua-Fix is

installed as a last step of treatment.

The iron has precipitated and the ponds are clear.

Begins to receive the newly treated water.

Water from conventional treatment remains turbid.

As the Exodus water advances the ponds will

become clear.
