People are able to travel in the desert by many means. Paint or draw something that

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
All entries must be solely the work of the artist and completed within the last 2 years.
Use of patterns in some art forms is unavoidable, but we stress, under no circumstances
are kits to be used. Copying work done by other artists is an infringement of copyright
law; this includes other’s photographs. Professional artists should be especially sensitive
to this concern. The judges will be looking for originality, workmanship, composition
and presentation.
RECEIVING DAYS OF ARTWORK
Exhibits will be received at Old Pueblo Hall, Pima County Fairgrounds:
Friday, April 14, 2017 3 pm – 8 pm
Saturday, April 15, 2017 10 am – 3 pm
ABSOLUTLY NO SUBSTITUTIONS OF ENTRIES AFTER SUBMITTING
ENTRY.
RELEASING DAYS OF RIBBONS & ARTWORK
At the close of the Fair, April 30, 2017, entries will be released from 5:30 pm -7:30
pm. We will have two other pickup days on Monday, May 1, 2017, 4:00pm – 8:00pm
& Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 10:00am – 5:00pm. Monday and Wednesday are
the only days you can drive up to the building to pick up your entries. All entries
not picked up by May 8, 2017 will be donated to charity.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY ITEMS BE RELEASED BEFORE
THE CLOSE OF THE FAIR.
Receipts issued on receiving day must be presented to redeem artwork.
SALE OF ARTWORK
THE SOUTHWESTERN FAIR COMMISSION WILL NO LONGER BE A
BROKER FOR A SALE BETWEEN YOU AND THE BUYER
ARTWORK SOLD OR UNSOLD WILL NOT BE RELEASED BEFORE THE
CLOSE OF THE PIMA COUNTY FAIR ON APRIL 30, 2017.
If you put a sales price on your entry, we will contact you with the name & phone
number of the person interested in your item.
GENERAL RULES
All entrants must be southern Arizona residents; winter visitors are eligible and welcome.
Due to the family atmosphere of the Fair, artwork deemed inappropriate or containing
nudity will not be permitted. The Pima County Fair and its agents assume no
responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to any artwork during the periods of receiving,
exhibition, return or storage. Every precaution will be taken to guard against such loss or
damage. The Pima County Fair reserves the right, both final and absolute, to interpret all
rules and regulations and to arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and
differences in regard thereto or otherwise arising out of or connected to the Pima County
Fair.
No Business Cards Allowed on Any Entries
Art work must be framed and ready to hang with heavy-gauge picture wire
No glue of any kind can be used for getting art work ready to hang
Saw Tooth hooks are not allowed
Tape will not be accepted
Canvas painting not framed must have a wire screwed into the frame

People’s Choice
Prizes WILL BE AWARDED to Best of Class and Best of Show and People’s
Choice. Classes with more than 30 entries will be judged as a class. Judges are instructed not to
award ribbons unless the entry is deemed worthy. Judges will be using the American
System if judging and all judging is final.
It is the responsibility of the Artist to collect any award vouchers from the Fine Arts
reception desk and cash them at the Fair Office Cashier Window as soon as they are
issued. VOUCHER’S WILL NOT BE CASHED AFTER NOON ON MONDAY,
May 1, 2017.

PROFESSIONAL
Designed for the artist working on a professional level, who is teaching or has taught art,
has participated in gallery exhibits or juried shows whose work is selling through stores,
galleries or Arts & Crafts fairs ($500. or 3 pieces a year).
NOVICE
Hobbyist who has never sold their artwork (except through Fine Arts Pima County Fair)
or taught art and has worked in the medium less than 2 years.
SENIOR
Designed for the artist who meets the definition of senior citizen age requirement, 62 or
older
PERSON(S) WITH DISABILITIES
Designed for the artist who meets the definition of disabled under the (ADA) Americans with
Disabilities Act or other state laws.

Use your imagination to make a tree ornament. The ornament can not be over 9
inches high and 5 inches wide. The ornaments must be lightweight to hang on a tree
and must have string or some sort of ribbon attached for hanging.
Decorate using paint, glitter, rhinestones, sequins, pearls, ribbon, flowers, etc. You
can use any media that you choose.
