Dance with Meditative Movement Presenter: Vaishali Jogi, Meditation Instructor, Principal Accountant, DBO 1:00pm – 2:30pm Multi-Use 361 If every cell in your body seeks balance, then what is the ultimate source of balance? Meditation with mindful movements. Deepen meditative capacity and sensorial subtly, while gently and globally expanding flexibility and strength. Feeling free in your body allows your mind to expand, your heart to open, and your spirit to soar. Once you achieve this super beneficial state on a daily basis you will feel a deep sense of calmness, while still being alert and full of energy. Your mood will be naturally positive, your muscles will be free of tension. Your mind will be focused, yet relaxed. Meditation upgrades your body's stress response, deactivates "fight or flight" fear, while turning on your relaxation response. CRN: F2.17-501 * Strand: Wellness and Emotional Intelligence

10:00am – 11:30am and 1:00pm – 2:30pm Multi Use 160 What‘s in a name? CCSF is finally coming into compliance with Title IX of the Federal Education Code. Preferred name will be available in Banner soon. Preferred name is used for students, faculty, and staff whose legal name is not the name they use for a variety of reasons. Title IX ensures that transgender people are able to have full respect and access in educational settings. Part of this is the ability to use one's preferred name because it is not always possible to change a name legally. In this workshop, we will be discussing ways for faculty and staff to respectfully make our classrooms, financial aid, A&R, and other points of service fully accessible to all students, faculty, and staff. We will be doing a hands on workshop that will give people tools for working with our diverse populations and help people understand why many students, faculty, and staff have preferred names - whether they are transgender, immigrants, survivors of abuse, etc. CRN: F2.17-509V * Strand: Equity and Diversity

Writing and Revising SLOs Presenter: Craig Kleinman, SLO Coordination, English Professor 10:00am – 11:30am and 1:00pm – 2:30pm Cloud 104 Many of us struggle--even dread--writing student learning outcomes, in part because the way that they're crafted can have a huge impact on course design, assignments, and assessment. And many of us just don't see the point. Since outcomes are all about what students should take away from a class, it's crucial that the writers and revisers of outcomes look critically at the importance of SLO phrasing and wording. What makes an outcome measurable? What distinguishes a SLO from an assignment? Why are some verbs better than others? When is more less? What about service outcomes? How do course-level SLOs function differ from program-level SLOs? And how does one get Bloomy with it? Learn more about outcomes while learning to write them more effectively.
