Weekly Prayer
This Week's News
Dear Lord,
I hope people could help our animals and not hurt them. I love all animals so I want them to be safe.
Amen

Mr Bragard’s Weekly Update
This week the British weather has been back with a vengeance with parts of the country flooded and damaged due to the amount of rainfall over a short period of time. In Southend it has not been as damaging but this week did see the beauty of thunderstorms, lighting the estuary at night with its streaks of lightning across the dark sky. Let us have a moment to reflect on this and pray for those who have been affected by the weather recently and hope that they are kept safe and can resume their normal lives. The weather has not been great this week but at Sacred Heart the fun always continues! As well as the superb learning experience the children continue to have every week, we have also had amazing Sports Days held this week for Nursery and Reception. Year 4 have set off on their adventure to Belchamps and will be keeping the adults up all night while the parents get a peaceful night’s sleep. Let's hope they come back Friday tired, ready for another early night’s sleep.
Thank you to those that have signed up for the Summer Fayre after my plea last week and also for all the amazing donations that have been brought to the office it is greatly appreciated!

for the bottle tombola. The bottle has to be
unopened and in date and could be:
● Squash
● Shampoo/shower gel etc.
● Fizzy pop (lemonade, coke etc)
● Beer, Wine etc.
Going for Gold DayNext week FS1, FS2, KS1 and KS2 will be having their reward days. Year 2 and below will be having a range of fun activities on site to reward their behaviour across the year. KS2 will be enjoying a lovely day down at Adventure Island. Well done to the children this year as their behaviour has been brilliant and deserve a day to celebrate!
What’s Coming Up?
RetirementSadly, we will say goodbye to Mr Tallon at the end of this year as he has announced his intention to retire from teaching. Mr. Tallon’s contribution to Catholic Education has been considerable, spanning over many years. We are so very grateful for the many years of service he has given to Sacred Heart School. His dedication and hard work for so many families of Sacred Heart has been significant – this can be summed up in his resolve to remove stabilisers for a young pupil to enable him to ride. This provides a great illustration of his role for our community - he will be sorely missed. If you would like to make a donation to his retirement collection, please do so in the office.

Jam Jar stall.
Year 5 Music FestivalThe children of St Anthony, Year 5, had a fantastic day last Friday as they attended a rehearsal at the Cliffs Pavilion and then later performed as part of the mass choir at the South East Essex Music Festival. The evening was a great event, with a wonderful selection of songs from across the decades, complimented by the tambourine group who accompanied a couple of songs as well as performing to a medley of Abba, Elvis and The Feeling. They received tremendous applause and the children were complimented for their behaviour and excellent singing. Well done indeed St Anthony, we were exceptionally proud at the way your represented our school!

using any services that have helped you, please share these with
the office so we can share these with other parents.

Packed Lunches
Many children at school bring their own packed
lunch. Many parents wonder what makes a good
packed lunch? How many items should I put in their
lunch box? Can I give them left-over take away
from the night before? It is vital that you pack a
balanced lunch and leave the take aways at home.

Sacred Heart Feast Day
We are looking forward to celebrating Sacred Heart Feast Day on Friday 28th June. We hope that as many parents and carers as possible can join us.
We will be marking this special occasion in a number of ways:
• Feast Day mass at 9:30am. We hope to hold our mass outdoors (on the playground) in order to accommodate our growing numbers within the Sacred Heart community. For the outdoor mass, some seating will be available but it will not be possible to provide seating for all. Parents/carers are welcome to bring along a foldable/portable chair if available. In the event of bad weather, the mass will be moved into Sacred Heart Church and attended by all parents and Y3-6 pupils. (It will not be possible to fit all pupils into the church but all parents will be accommodated.)
• After mass, parents and carers will be welcomed into the school hall for refreshments (tea or coffee, with cake). Children will return to class for their own break-time during this time.
• We will then finish off our Feast Day celebration morning with pupils performing a range of songs and dances. We hope that we will be able to host these on the playground; again, this will be dependent on weather conditions on the day.If you wish to join us in school on this special occasion, please book your place on our online system. Entrance will be by ticket only, which are priced at £1.00 (with proceeds going to our school charities). The deadline for booking tickets for this event is Friday 21st June 2019. Please note there is a maximum availability of two tickets per family.
For full details of the event and booking arrangements, please see our Feast Day letter dated 7th June 2019.

Stay and PrayAs part of our weekly routine at Sacred Heart, pupils and teachers regularly gather together within their classes to pray during Class Worship sessions.
As a Catholic school, we recognise the importance of coming together to pray and worship our faith. We would like to extend an invitation to parents and carers to join your child’s class for their ‘Stay and Pray’ Class Worship. This is an important opportunity for us all to be gathered in His name.
We look forward to seeing as many parents/carers as possible to join us at our Stay and Pray class worship sessions. If you would like to join us for this special occasion, please indicate your intention to attend by ticking the relevant consent box our online system School Money.
We detail below the Stay and Pray sessions that have been planned for this term:
Recept. Mary Mother of God with Miss West on Wednesday 3rd July at 9.00am

Friends of Sacred Heart is a
charitable organisation that holds a
range of events to raise money for
our wonderful school. Events
include quiz nights, curry nights,
beetle bingo, summer and
Christmas fairs. The money raised
goes towards our children's
learning and to improve their
school environment. In previous
years we have helped pay for play
time and lunchtime equipment and
subsidise trips for the children.
