Two Hours i.e. 120 minutes only is exact and total compositetime for all the above Tests. You may attempt the tests/questions in any order you like. However in your interest youare advised not to spend too much time on any one of thetests because to qualify in the written examination you haveto pass each one of the tests, separately and also obtainsufficiently high marks in the merit order.

The questions in the tests of Reasoning Ability, NumericalAbility, Clerical Aptitude and Computer Knowledge will be

    printed in Hindi and English.

Pass Marks : The candidate MUST pass in each of theobjective tests separately. The passing marks in each testwill be decided by the Bank on the basis of the performancein each test of all the competing candidates subject to aminimum required level (statewise). Candidates are alsorequired to score a minimum 40% cut off (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PC/Ex serviceman) marks on aggregate to beconsidered for being called for interview. Bank reserves

the right to vary cut off marks. On each of the objectivetests cut off will be applied on the scores obtained afterapplying penalty for wrong answers.

Candidates who pass in each test and rank sufficientlyhigh on the basis of the aggregate marks in the writtenexamination as stated above would only be called forinterview. The number of such candidates would dependupon the number of vacancies to be filled in.

THERE WILL BE PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWER MARKED

BY YOU IN THE OBJECTIVE TESTS.There are five alternativesin every question of a test. For each question for which a

wrong answer has been given by you, one-fourth or 0.25 ofthe marks assigned to that question will be deducted aspenalty. If for any question you give more than one answer,

it will be treated as wrong even if one of the given answershappens to be right and there will be the same penalty asabove for that question. If a question is left blank, i.e. noanswer is given by you, there will be no penalty for thatquestion. If the total of the penalty for a test is in fraction, the marks obtained will be rounded off to the nearest integerto say if fraction is 0.5 or more it will be rounded off to thenext higher integer.YOU SHOULD THEREFORE BE CAREFULIN MARKING YOUR ANSWERS.

    SAMPLE QUESTIONS

    A) OBJECTIVE TESTS

Below are given some sample questions for the objectivetype tests. The types of questions are only illustrative andnot exhaustive. In actual examination you may find ques-tions on some or all of these types and also questions onthe types not mentioned here.

    TEST I : REASONING ABILITY

This test is to see how well you can think. It containsquestions of various kinds. Here are some sample ques-tions.

Directions : In each of the following questions, there is agroup of letters or words given. Four of the five are alike ina certain way, while one is different. Find out the onewhich is different.

    Q.1. (1) black (2) red (3) green (4) yellow (5) paint

Of the five, black, red, green, and yellow form a group

as they are names of colours. Paint is not the name of acolour. Therefore (5) is the answer.

Now try to solve the following question.

    Q.2. (1) XZ (2) MN (3) PQ (4) BC (5) ST

Following are the questions based on analogy.

Q.3. Foot is related to Man in the same way asHoof is related to (1) Leg (2) Horse (3) Dog (4) Boy (5) Shoe

In the above example, with which one of the five, Hoofhas the same relationship as Foot has to Man ? The

answer is Horse, which is answer number (2).

    Now try the following questions.

Q.4. Day is related to Night in the same way asKind is related to (1) Cruel (2) Bright (3) Dark(4) Generous (5) Gratitude

    Now try the following questions.

Q.5. If the letters in the word TOPS can be rearrangedto form a meaningful word beginning with O, thelast letter of that word is your answer. If more than

one such word can be formed, M is the answer andif no such word can be formed, X is the answer.(1) T (2) P (3) M (4) S (5) X

There may also be problems in the form of figures, designs and drawings. These may be of three types :

    1. Analogies 2. Classification and 3. Series

    1. Analogies :

In these questions, there are two sets of figures. theProblem Figures and the Answer Figures. The Problem

Figures are presented in two units. The first unit containstwo figures and the second unit contains one figure and aquestion mark in place of the fourth figure. You have tofind out which one of the Answer Figures should be inplace of the question mark.

Study the following questions based on Analogies.

Look at the first two Problem Figures. The second figureis related to the first figure in a certain way. The first figureis a square. In the second figure, the square has beenbisected by a vertical line and the right half has beendarkened.

The third and fourth figures should have the samerelationship as the first and the second have. The thirdfigure is a circle, so in the fourth figure, the circle shouldbe bisected by a vertical line and the right half should bedarkened. Answer Figure 5 is related to the third ProblemFigure in this way. Therefore the answer is 5.

Study the first and the second figures in the ProblemFigures. The first figure is a darkened square and in thesecond figure, there are four squares, not darkened, arranged in a particular way. That means the elements inthe second figure are four times the elements in the firstfigure and are not darkened. In addition, the four squaresare arranged in a specific way and are not touching one

    another.

The third figure is a darkened circle. Therefore, the fourthfigure should have four circles which are not darkened, arranged in the same way as in the second figure. Nowlook at the Answer Figures. You will find that figure 1consists of four circles which are not darkened arrangedin a similar way. Therefore, the answer is 1.

Study the first and the second figures in the first unit ofthe Problem Figures. The first figure is made up of fourlines and the second figure is made up of five lines. Thatmeans the second figure has one line more than the firstfigure. The third figure in the second unit has five lines. Therefore, the fourth figure should have six lines i.e. onemore than the third. Now look at the Answer Figures. You

will find that figure 3 is made up of six lines. Therefore, theanswer is 3.

Now, attempt the following questions. (Correct answersto all the unexplained questions are given later in thisbooklet).

    2. Classification :

Study the following questions based on classification.

In classification, the Problem Figures are also the AnswerFigures. Out of the five figures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, four aresimilar in a certain way and so form a group. One figure isnot like the other four. The question is which one of thefigures does not belong to this group.

For example, look at the example at Q. No. 11. Of the fivefigures, four figures are such that in each of them, thereare two similar figures, one within the other. These fourfigures form a group. Figure 1 is unlike this and so doesnot belong to this group. Therefore the answer is 1.

Study the five figures of Q.12. The first four figures form agroup as they represent different types of containers whilethe fifth figure, a spoon, does not represent a container. Therefore the answer is 5.

    Now attempt the following questions.

    3. Series

Study the following problems based on series.

Note that the four figures given first at the left are calledProblem Figures. The five figures given next are calledAnswer figures. They are indicated by numbers 1, 2, 3, 4and 5.

The four Problem Figures make a series. That means theychange from left to right in a specific order. The questionis if the figures continue to change in the same order, what should the fifth figure be ? In the example above, asyou go from left to right, you find that the arrow inside thecircle keeps rotating at 900 in the clockwise direction. Thequestion is, if the arrow continues to rotate by the same

amount in the clockwise direction, what will be its next,i.e. fifth position ? The answer is that it should point towardsthe top in the fifth figure. Answer Figure 2 shows this

position of the arrow. Therefore, the answer is 2.

Look at Q.16 carefully. You will see two different thingshappening here. When you move from left to right, thenumber of black dots inside the hexagon is increasing byone everytime in the anti-clockwise direction. But notethat the white dot is moving in the clockwise direction. Inthe fifth figure, the white dot should be at the upper leftcorner of the hexagon. Only Answer Figure 3 has both-one black dot getting added at the lower left corner andthe white dot moving to the upper left corner. So, the answeris 3.

Note that there can be questions with five ProblemFigures in the series type of questions. For example, study the Problem Figures in Q. No. 17.

    15

Note that the number of arrows is increasing by 1 everytimeand that they are gradually falling towards the left. In thesixth figure there should be six arrows and they shouldfall further and be lying flat, i.e. they should be horizontal. The answer, therefore, is 5.

    Now solve the following questions.

    TEST II : NUMERICAL ABILITY

This test is to measure how fast and accurate you are indealing with numbers.

Directions : In each of the following questions one numberis missing. The place where the number is missing isshown by a question mark (?). You have to find out whichone of the answers shown against 1, 2, 3 and 4 can replacethe question mark. If none of these four can replace thequestion mark, you will indicate (5) i.e. None of these asyour answer.

    Q.20. 42 + 73 + 137 = ?(1) 352 (2) 252 (3) 242(4) 142 (5) None of these

    Q.21. 20 1

    2= ?

    (1) 4 (2) 5 (3) 12

    (4) 20 (5) None of these

The correct answer for Q.21 is 10. But none of the 1, 2, 3,or 4 shows this answer. Therefore your answer is 5.

Some of the questions may require arithmetical reasoning.

    For example :

    Q.22. At 10 paise each, how many paise will 6 lemonscost ?(1) 6 (2) 10 (3) 60 (4) 61 (5) 610

    Q.23. Which of the following can be exact multiple of 4 ?(1) 27114 (2) 58204 (3) 48402(4) 32286 (5) None of these

Q.24. If the profit made by selling a pen for Rs.10 is asmuch as its cost, what is the cost price of thepen ?(1) Rs.3/- (2) Rs.5/- (3) Rs.10/-(4) Rs.20/- (5) None of these

    Test III : English Language

This is a test to see how well you know English. YourEnglish language ability would be tested through questionson grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms, comprehension of a passage, etc. Study andanswer the sample questions given below. Please

remember, in the test paper there may be questions ofseveral other types also.

The correct answer is through which is answer No. 2.

The error is in (1). Therefore the answer is 1.

In this question, there is no error; Hence the right answerto this question is 5.

In addition to the above questions, there will be a passagein English for comprehension. You will be asked questionsbased on the passage.

There may be some other types of questions also.

    Test IV : Clerical Aptitude

There will be different types of items in this test. In the first type, ineach question a combination of name and address is given in thefirst column at the left followed by four such combinations oneeach under the columns 1, 2, 3 and 4. You have to find out thecombination which is exactly the same as the combination in thefirst column. The number of the column which contains thatcombination is the answer. If all the combinations are different, theanswer is 5.

In the second type of questions, some items of familyexpenditure are given. The item in each questions is to beclassified into one of the following five. Heads of

expenditure : (1) Education (2) Food (3) Health (4) Travel (5)Miscellaneous. The number preceding the Head of expenditure1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5, as the case may be, is the answer.

    Sample question :

    Q.37. Purchase of Rice

Since this item falls under the Head of expenditure Foodthe answer is 2.

In the third type of questions, five words or names aregiven. You have to find out which word or name wil l be inthe middle after the words or names are rearranged inalphabetical order.

    Example :

    Q.38. (1) might (2) minister (3) mice(4) mill (5) mince

The alphabetical order will be mice, might, mill mince, minister. In this order mill is in the middle. So the answeris 4.
