Founded in 1955 to improve the lives of women, the Avon Foundation for Women is the world’s largest corporate-affiliated philanthropy focused solely on issues that matter most to women. Through 2012, Avon global philanthropy has donated more than $910 million in over 50 countries for women’s causes. Avon philanthropy currently focuses on breast cancer research and access to care through the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, and efforts to reduce domestic and gender violence through the Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program. Our Impact The Avon Foundation’s Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program was launched in 2004 to help reduce the startling statistic that one in three women globally will be a victim of partner violence in her lifetime. In addition to funding programs that provide direct services for victims and their families, Speak Out is also dedicated to educating and building awareness surrounding this issue and ways to prevent abuse. Avon’s Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program has donated nearly $50 million in more than 50 countries through 2012. Avon Speak Out Against Domestic Violence Signature Programs Avon’s Domestic Violence Survivor Empowerment Program has funded more than 65 coordinators who help domestic violence survivors create financially independent, violence-free lives for themselves and their families. The Communications X-Change is a digital global website where the best communications material focused on ending violence against women is shared. In March 2013 at the United Nations, Avon Foundation Ambassador Salma Hayek Pinault awarded grants to 5 exceptional global campaigns selected from the X-Change by an international panel of judges to receive the Avon Global Communications Awards: Speaking Out About Violence Against Women. The Global Partnership to End Violence Against Women is an Avon Foundation collaboration with Vital Voices and the U.S. Department of State that brings together global delegations to collaborate to change public attitudes and develop practices to prevent and end violence against women. The Avon Global Center for Women and Justice at Cornell Law School works with judges, legal professionals, and governmental and non-governmental organizations to improve access to justice for victims of gender violence. m.powerment by mark funds programs to help young women ages 16-24 (who experience the highest rates of partner violence) learn the signs of abusive relationships and ways to prevent violence before it starts. Collaborative programs include: (1) Virus & Breast Cancer Research Consortium, (2) New Diagnostics Test/Device Portfolio Development, and (3) Parity and Breast Cancer Risk Research Program. Avon Global Breast Cancer Clinical Scholars train in the U.S. and return to their home countries with advanced skills and information, better equipping them to provide high quality care for breast cancer patients. Avon Support Programs provide services and education to women diagnosed with breast cancer, including counseling and referral programs, financial assistance programs and nutrition and meal services.
