The East Troy Electric Railroad is the lastvestige of Wisconsin’s once broad networkof electric interurban railways.Concentrated in the southeastern quarterof the state, this network once totaledapproximately 385 miles of track. Most of

the interurban railway mileage in Wisconsinwas built between 1890 and 1910; the last interurbanpassenger in the state was carriedin 1963 by the North Shore Line.The East Troy Interurban Line,formerly a part of The MilwaukeeElectric Railway & Light Company,carried passengers between EastTroy and Milwaukee from 1907until 1939. After 1939 the six-mileline existed as a railroad freightconnection for the Village of EastTroy. The line continues today as apopular tourist railroad.
