NEWSLETTER EID EDITION Welcome to our newsletter. In shaaAllah we aim to keep our community up to date through regular newsletters. Even with the long fasts, and late night prayers Ramadan 2016 was our busiest yet Alhumdulillah. With so many programmes and events taking place throughout the month there was something for everyone. The Mosque was open throughout the nights and the air was filled with fragrance of the worship of Allah. For the first time in the Masjid's history, we launched and ran an in house Ramadan Radio station with programmes running 24 hours, including a women and kids show, naat programmes, ask the Imam, and live call ins. We also broadcast Tarawih prayers and lectures. The station was located on the 1st floor of the Masjid and ran by volunteers of our community. Issues concerning today's Muslims were tackled on the daily community show with guests including local politicians and members of parliament such as Ruth Cadbury and Brandon Lewis as well as Helen Ball and Raj Kohli from the police force and inter faith personalities. More details and images can be found on the website. With so much positivity radiating throughout this month, the radio station was a success Alhumdulillah. Together with our live Facebook feeds we truly went into the homes of our community and followers worldwide. Tarawih this year was led by Hafiz Khalil Sultan from Pakistan. His soothing voice resonated with all and the standing Salam at the end each night was indeed breathtaking. The last 4 rakahs were led by Imam Bilal, who has been a stalwart of our community for over 25 years. Hafiz Khalil returned to Pakistan shortly after the completion of the Quran. This year the numbers coming for Iftar increased. On average we had approximately 300 community members from among brothers and sisters. This was higher on some nights when special guests were in attendance. Alhumdulillah with your contributions we successfully served the community throughout Ramadan. Our Annual Community Iftar drew in over 100 members from multi faiths where we all shared in an iftar meal and strengthened our community bond. Guests included Kristiane Backer, Hassen Rasool, Seema Malhotra, Friends of Faith members and others.

Throughout Ramadan we presented several lectures through guest speakers includingthe Tafsir of Surah Yusuf with Shaykh Baber, The Shamail with Shaykh Ammar,Inner Dimensions of Zakah with Ustadh Abu Bakr, and preventing Extremism withUstadh Hammad to name just a few.
