Subject Verb Agreement

Rules

1. Subject consists of 1 or more and joined by AND plural verb

2. Subject consists of 1 or more and joined by NOR or OR singular verb

3. Compound subject consists of both singular and plural noun/pronouns and joined by NOR or OR verb should agree with the nearest subject

4. Verb should agree with the head of subject not the noun/pronoun in that subject phrase

6. Nouns; civics, mathematics, dollars, measles, and news singular verb

7. Noun in pairs (scissors, trousers, glasses, etc) plural verb

8. Collective noun singular verb9. Sentence with there is/are verb

agree with follow10.Expressions; together with, including,

in addition, accompanied by, as well verb agree with the subjects
