RE: Presidential Primary: Precinct Notice for How to Vote for President and No Party Preference
The Secretary of State has created the attached “How to Vote for President” poster for use at polling locations as required by Elections Code section 14105.2. This poster is intended to inform voters of their options for requesting a partisan ballot for the upcoming March 3, 2020, Presidential Primary Election. In accordance with Elections Code section 14105(n), this poster must be posted both inside and outside of every polling location.
This poster will be available in 11” x 17” in combined English and Spanish, and 11” x 14” in a single language for Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese.
To request copies of the poster for your precinct supplies, please fill out the attached form and return via e-mail to [email protected].
The Secretary of State has also updated the optional “No Party Preference” flyer which you may want to provide to your voters during the voter check-in process. The flyer is multi-lingual and provides information in English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese. You may print the No Party Preference flyer yourself by using the attached version.

HOW TO VOTE FOR
PRESIDENT Registered to vote as No Party Preference*?
As a voter registered with No Party Preference, if you want to vote for U.S. President you must request a primary election ballot with presidential candidates from one of the following parties:
• American Independent Party • Democratic Party • Libertarian Party
If you vote-by-mail, you will need to request this ballot from your county elections office.
If you vote at the polls, you can request a ballot when checking-in at the polling place.
For more information on this process, visit HowToVoteForPresident.sos.ca.gov.
If you want to vote for the Green, Peace and Freedom, or Republican Parties' presidential candidates, you must re-register with that specific party. To change your voter registration visit registertovote.ca.gov.
* Voters registered with a non-qualified political party are considered No Party Preference voters.
Registered with a Qualified Political Party?
If you registered with any of the following qualified political parties, you can only vote for that party’s presidential candidates:
• American Independent Party • Democratic Party • Green Party • Libertarian Party • Peace and Freedom Party • Republican Party
If you want to vote for another party’s presidential candidates, you must re-register with that specific party. To change your registration visit registertovote.ca.gov.
