Curriculum Vitae University, India. Noteworthy to mention, my undergraduate student Bruno Arce received theOutstanding Undergraduate teaching award in 2015. Perhaps, due to his own abilities and my teaching strategies. Additionally, I am particularly pleased, and honored, to note that a new organic transformation, developed in my lab, (Bugarin et al., Chem. Eur. J. 2016, 22, 12696) was recently recognized as a name reaction by Reaxys®. It is now listed in the ReactionFlash (app) as the Bugarin α-Allenols Synthesis. Faculty Advisor, UTA-SACNAS Chapter: I served continuously as faculty advisor to the UTASociety for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (UTA-SACNAS) from2012 to 2019. The express purpose of this society is to help integrate minority students intoUniversity activities, with a special emphasis on assisting them with their course selections and helping them locate suitable locations for undergraduate research and other advantageous job opportunities.Noteworthy to mention, since 2012, six UTA-SACNAS members earned oral or poster presentations awards at the SACNAS national conference.Total of students mentored or trained since 2012 = 165 students. In summary, I believe I have established an excellent environment for scientific discovery and have demonstrated the expertise, leadership, andmotivation necessary to perform successfully in my career.

RESEARCH INTEREST (summary) Research in the Bugarin group focuses on catalytic reaction development with

applications in natural product synthesis. Areas of fundamental interest include: the identification of new reactivity patterns, the evolution of related catalytic processes, and thedevelopment of new synthetic strategies. Specifically, we are pursuing new chemistry using azides, nucleophilic and electrophilic catalysis via N-heterocyclic carbenes, synergistic catalysis, bimetallic catalysis, redox economy, and photochemical processes.
