Several consultations are underway at the moment which willaffect our area.

DPTI (Dept Planning, Transport & Infrastucture) are

currently undertaking a public awareness and feedback program on their plans for Main South Road upgrading between Old Coach Road and Malpas Road, due to start laterthis year. If you want to know what is happening in detailcome to our meeting on April 13 where they will be presenting and answering questions.

City of Onkaparinga are also seeking feedback on theirForeshore Access Plan stage 6 which is due back by April15th. This section covers the Esplanade from Aldinga Beachramp to Loongana Road, Aldinga Beach.This includes a shared use path from Magpie Road through to Norman Road going through the SA Water reserve.For those who would like to hear more about it and see it indetail there is an information session planned for SaturdayApril 9th from 12noon until 3pm at the Aldinga BayLifesaving Club, Norman Road Aldinga Beach. If you want to give them feedback good luck. We hope youhave more success than we all did with the stage 5 path placement.

Several local events are in the planning stage. The Southern Deadly Fun Run along the Esplanade atAldinga Beach between Snapper Point and Port Willunga is being planned in detail.The Southern Deadly Fun Run is a free event for all ages in Aldingaon 1 May and 5 June. Aboriginal people and Non Aboriginal people are invited to run or walk and join us for a community eventin the afternoon.

Registrations will be from 9.30 - 10.30 A fun warm up will be from 10.30 - 11The walk/run will kick off at 11

BBQ and activities will be from 11.30 - 1.30 Everyone that participates will get a medal, there will be lots of prizes on the day, special guests, yummy food and heaps of

activities. Prams, and dogs on leads are all welcome :)

Aldinga On Display 2016 has finally had a date set.It will take place on Saturday October 8th.Arrangements have been made to carry the Council grantover to the next financial year to allow us to organise it properly. It will be combined with the release of a newlocal services directory covering the Aldinga-Sellicks

Area which is being prepared.

LOCAL DAIRY FARMER COMPETES IN BRITISHRALLY CHAMPIONSHIP.

South Australian dairy farmer Guy Tyler and hisnavigator, Steve Fisher, will be competing in theDMACK Junior British Rally Championship in 2016.

Guy, aged 25 from Mt Compass, began racing whilst onhis L’s at the Southern Districts Car Club near his home

farm. His skills where instantly recognised and he hasgone on to compete in the South Australian RallyChampionships and the Australian Rally Championships,recording many wins along the way.

His dream has always been to compete in the World RallyChampionship, and although he has gone through severalhard years competing in Australia with cars that have been unreliable, he has pushed through and never givenup. His luck started to change in 2015 when he purchaseda Mitsubishi Evo V. The purchase provided immediateresults with him and his navigator, Steve Fisher, winningall three rounds of the South Australian RallyChampionship and the state title.

Shortly after this exciting win Guy discovered a drivervacancy posted on Facebook with the VauxhallMotorsport Junior Rally Team to compete in the JuniorBritish Rally Championship in 2016. To stand out fromthe 100’s of applicants he put together a short video to

highlight his capabilities. Guy was eventually shortlistedfor the position and invited to attend a test drive and aninterview with the team in England, along with 6 otherapplicants. Being shortlisted for such a prestigious position was an achievement in itself but unfortunately he

was unsuccessful due to the funds required from thedrivers to support the team.

Regardless, the team behind the Vauxhall MotorsportJunior Rally Team, Major Motorsport, took a shine toGuy’s ability to adapt, his skills and passion for the sport,

offering him an alternative, a drive in a Ford Fiesta R2.

“During the interview and test drive I got to know theother applicants really well and once I knew how goodthe rallying is and how pumped up the championship is,there’s no way I could go home and keep doing the sameold stuff. I can’t wait to race against my new mates and

really test my skills.” – Guy Tyler

Since then Guy has been working tirelessly with hisnavigator, Steve Fisher, from Salisbury, to ensure theyhave the funds needed to make the most of the once in alifetime opportunity. The pair will be competing in 5rounds of the 7 round British Rally Championship, as thisis all that counts towards points for the Junior title.

“I’m not the only Australian that will be competing but Iam the only South Australian and I am really stoked to beable to represent our beautiful part of the world. You seein the press how popular Adelaide is becoming and it’ll be great to promote the area.” – Tyler

This will be the first time Guy has competed in a lefthand drive R2 car but with this being his last opportunityto compete in the DMACK Junior British RallyChampionship due to the age restrictions he’s bound tomake the most of it.

"I can’t wait to get into what is going to be the best car Ihave ever driven so far in my career so far. There are awhopping fourteen entries for the first round in all thesame class of car which I’m sure will provide amazingcompetition and will be like nothing I’ve ever

experienced before" – Tyler

Together the pair have raised all but $13,000 needed tocover the cost of running in the DMACK British Junior

Rally Championship. They have created a crowdfundingcampaign hoping that the Australian public will rally behind them.

The first round of the DMACK British Junior RallyChampionship is in Wales and begins on the 5th ofMarch.

Guy advocates for road safety and encourages teenagerstest their skills on the track, not on public roads. He alsowishes to be a role model and inspiration for peopleeverywhere to chase their dreams no matter how hard itmay be.

Find out about the story of the wreck of ‘The Star Of Greece’ and see the location of her resting place. Find out about the local history of this area as well as visiting the unique Aldinga Scrub and viewing anextremely rare plant, which lives there. See remnants of the original farm nestled among modern suburbiaand visit Snapper Point overlooking Aldinga Reef, which was also a wartime coastguard lookout.

Aldinga Community Christmas Lunch 2015The Aldinga Community Christmas Lunch Organizing Committee once again were able to create a very successful ChristmasDay Lunch at the Aldinga Institute, where more than 100 folk were able to come along and enjoy a traditional ChristmasLunch, along with a visit from Santa for all the children.People who attended enjoyed a beautiful roast dinner of ham, turkey and chicken, along with roast potatoes and vegetables.There was also a choice of dessert, pavlova with strawberries and cream, or the more traditional Christmas fruit pudding withcustard.Children were entertained before the lunch with an imagination playground and other activities, and after lunch, by the arrivalof Santa with a huge array of gifts for them. There was also a photo booth where families and guests could record the day. All

Defies bank robbers - and lives!

Leaving behind the streets full of soldiers in his hometown Kampala - there for the 2016 elections - Richardvisited Adelaide; and when pressed, told us this story. Ithappened in 1998, and there are living witnesses to it.

Standing at the bank counter with the money in his handfor some church purchases, the sounds of shouting andgun fire got his attention. A bunch of thugs with hand andmachine guns burst into the bank, barking out orders foreveryone to get down, and began their robbing spree.

Richard was obediently heading for the floor, when heheard another voice say clearly "What are you doing?" Arguing with this counter-instruction to not lie down andno time to do it in, he again heard, "How dare you takeme, the Creator of the universe who is inside you, and layme down on the floor with everyone else!"

He was the only one standing. The voice said, "Pray!"Richard prayed silently. The voice: "I can't hear you!"

Having nothing to lose - apart from his life - he threw hishands in the air and shouted his prayer. One of the thugsmoved towards him, shooting with an AK47. At thatmoment he heard the Lord say, "You won't die heretoday!"; and in a vision showed Richard his future.

The vision disappeared, the thug reappeared - in shockand awe - no more bullets; and ran from the bank. Hisgang followed, leaving Richard holding his money.Then he preached his shortest-ever sermon: "God is ableto save you all. Trust in Jesus and you will have eternallife". And he too stormed out of the bank.

This true story is the introduction to Bishop RichardLutwama's forthcoming book, "Arise O man of God".

To the Editor.I’m about to register my car again for twelve

months and between 4 and 5 thousand k’s for $431.That’s approximately ten cents per kilometer (sic) before I start the motor – petrol and service costsare additional.

The actual registration and admin charge issixty six dollars. The combined additional fees are:I. Emergency Services Levy $32.00II. Lifetime Support Fund $87.00III. Compulsory Third Party & GST $246.00The total, $365.00 is just over four year’s worth ofthe current basic registration fee.

It’s hardly to be wondered that somedesparate (sic) people drive their cars un-registeredand insured, other than those who just ‘thumb theirnoses’ at the rest of us and ‘the Law’.

A good pair of walkers or even a bicycle (inmy case a tri-cycle) might be a better choice.

On Wed 16th March Aldinga Beach CFS took delivery ofa new fire-fighting appliance, Kyeema BWC13.BW13 is a bulk water carrier, that can transport 13,000Lof water. It will be located at the Aldinga station, but is

for use throughout the Kyeema group district.

The new appliance is based on a Isuzu FVZ1400 chassis,is 6 x 4 and is fitted with a Chelsea PTO/Darley HM500 pump and was built in Australia by Moore Engineering.

The purpose of a bulk water carrier (BWC) is to transportlarge volumes of water to a fire to refill fire fightingappliances. This can save time as firefighting appliancescan be refilled closer to the fire instead of having to leavethe fireground each time they need to refill.BW13 will service the Kyeema group district whichincludes Aldinga Beach, McLaren Vale, Range Hope For-

est, Sellicks Beach, Willunga and Yundi.
