On this Christmas Eve, I pray that whatever you have searched for, or been open to, or most needed to find in this Advent Season has found its way to you. During these weeks of Advent we have waited in Prepara-tion, waited in Hope, waited in Anticipation and waited in Trust. The waiting time is almost over. We have found our way – or the way has found us – and we come now to the promise of Emmanuel – God with Us! Office & Activity Holiday Schedule
There will be no Sunday School on 29th. Sunday School will resume on January 5, 2019.
There are no Wednesday night activities on December 25th and January 1st and will resume Wednesday, Janu-ary 8th.
Church office will be closed December 24th, 25th, 26th, 31st and January 1, 2020.

2020 Flower Chart: Please consider providing a fresh arrange-ment for our worship services by signing up on our 2019 flower chart on the office door. Flowers can be placed in honor or memory of loved ones, or as your gift to glorify God. Cost is $32.00; please designate “flowers” on your check. Flowers may be taken home after the worship service.
The Church Year: A liturgical primer
Why didn’t we sing Christmas hymns during Advent? What is Epipha-ny? Why does Easter come around on a different date each year? What’s Ordinary Time and why do we call it that? Why do the colors on the alter, pulpit and banners change some weeks? And what’s up with Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Fri-day?
Those – and lots of other churchy questions – will be discussed during a 3-week class on the Liturgical Year that will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 pm on January 8, 15 and 22 in room 126. There is no cost to attend and no reading or preparation is required. Please indicate your interest in attending on the Connect Card or by contacting the church office.
Graduating Senior High Students: The United Methodist foun-dation awards scholarships to members of the United Methodist Church, this includes the Mother Carrie Scholarship (awarded through Aldersgate UMW). Each scholarship will have individual applications which are available from the website: www.iumf.org
Applications may be sent to Methodist Foundation, 2301 Rittenhouse Street, Des Moines, IA 50321 and must be postmarked on or before March 15, 2020.
LaMotte Scholarship: Aldersgate UMC will award the LaMotte
Scholarship. For requirements and application form contact Theresa at [email protected] or 278-0466.
United Methodist Women: Tuesday, January 7th at 10:00 am the UMW will meet to plan the 2020 programming for the unit meetings and mission activities. Officers, committee chairs and all interested women are invited to attend.
PACE (People all can Exer-cise), will not December 24, 26, 31 and January 2. Class will resume on January 7, 2020.
