Aladdin: Parent Letter

Handed out at the lunch meeting onWednesday, September 12, 2012

Your son or daughter is interested in the LFMSS production of Aladdin this coming spring. Please familiarize

yourself with the commitment and dates for the show. It is an exciting opportunity and great experience

whether on stage or 'behind the scenes' but it requires a major commitment.

Students should complete the attached APPLICATION FORM and be prepared for auditions on the dates listed

on the first page. We will include everyone who applies and auditions in some role even if they do not get a

lead. We will double cast the show so more leads can be chosen and so they can be understudies if someonegets ill or can't make a performance.

There will be a $75 Aladdin show fee for all involved to be paid at the beginning of November. This will cover

the following: Aladdin Script, Aladdin CD, Aladdin Cast/Crew T-shirt, LFMSSAladdin Show DVD, miscellaneous

production and rehearsal costs such as rehearsal refreshments, materials, etc ...

We will require lots of parent help especially in the areas of costumes, house (door, refreshments, sales),ticket sales, publicity, LFESelementary school liaison, supervision at rehearsals and shows, accountant, etc ....

We would like to take a group field trip to see Pirates of Penzance, a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta on

Thursday, November 19th at 7 pm. Students should have a separate notice regarding Pirates.

Please contact me, Steve Thompson regarding anything you could help with or any questions regarding the

show.

A special note for actors:Has your school just announced auditions? Want to find out what roles are perfect for you? Just click the show your school or organization ispresenting and then click the name of one of the characters listed. You'll find a helpful character description plus a packet of audition materials thatyou can download! You may want to check with the director of the show and make sure they are using the Audition Central materials for theirauditions. As a final note, remember that auditions don't have to be a nerve-wracking experience. Remember to speak clearly, do your best, andhave some fun! Also, keep in mind, you and the production team are at auditions for the same reason: to eventually put on a great show!Break-A-Leg!* (*An alarmingly violent theatrical term for: Good Luck.)
