Title Hawaii Occupational Safety and Health Division
Summary The new, proposed standards incorporates the Code of Federal regulations, 2017 Edition publishes as of July 1, 2017, by the U.S. Government Printing Office with amendments. The document below contains the proposed amendments to HIOSH standards as mandated by the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The Occupational Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica standard should not have any additional costs for employers as Hawaii has always maintained a lower permissible exposure limit (PEL) for silica in its standards than the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) PEL. The proposed rules do not change the HIOSH PELs.
