The Chi Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is committed to the

development of America’s youth. In addition to engaging in mentoring, education, health &

wellness and economic development programs, we feel it is important to aid in developing

talented young Americans in pursuit of higher education. Through gifts provided by our

community donors and the contributions from members of Chi Mu Omega, we are pleased

to announce the availability of our Educational Scholarship. We are excited about your

interest in applying.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

The applicant must reside and attend school in Bolivar County, Mississippi.

The applicant must be a male or female graduating senior.

The applicant must plan to attend an accredited two or four-year college or university

full-time in Fall 2015.

The applicant must provide a copy of high school transcript. A minimum of 2.5 GPA (C+

average) is required

The application must be typed or neatly handwritten.

One page autobiographical essay that includes the following information: Your high

school extracurricular activities, Community and church activities, Anticipated major in

college, Goals and ambitions in terms of your career choice

A 300-500 word essay on a prominent issues. (See attachment for more details)

Please ensure that the completed packet is returned to your counselor on or before April

28. 2015. Scholarship recipients will be notified on or before May 15, 2015

The scholarships will be awarded in the fall of school year 2015/2016 with proof of

registration only. This scholarship is a one-time award. It will be awarded based on the

criteria set forth above. Notification of awards will be made via letter, email and/or phone.
