•There are 48 countries in Asia.•Very few are transition countries.

•So many are developing countries. •Besides building infrastructure, these developing

countries strongly need for technical assistance in capacity building issues on ICT, e-commerce,

UN/CEFACT recommendations and standards.•Potential exists for cross border projects in Asia

pacific using UN/CEFACT tools. This may be taken up in various PDAs.
