Technical Solutions

• In parallel with the FleetBroadband system crew can make use of local wireless internet access

3G / UMTS

Yacht owners own 3GSIM card – e.g. from ’3’that sells a subscriptionincl. Huawei’s 3G router

3G Connections• The yacht can install a 3G router or firewall to alternative internet

connections when close to land or/and in the harbor• The router will bring the internet access to the yacht providing WiFi• In that case the router or firewall will act as our gateway

– Such routers can e.g. be bought from Huawei or ZyXEL

Conceptual:• The router or firewall is set-up to use 3G and, if applicable, WiFi as

the primary route and Inmarsat as the fallback (secondary route)• If using a firewall, the user can additionally design the internet access

to become user-dependent with policies and restrictions– E.g. the secondary route can be set-up to have restrictions on time of access,

which users, download services, content filtering, etc

• Internet usage can -with this solution- be controlled– Minimizing risks for possible over-usage (or even miss-usage with content filtering

and application patrol functions)

• STANDARD package prices are based on IP-Consumption per megabyte (MB) and minutes without any bindings or obligations.

• Users pay as they go (after 1st of July 2011 a minimum allowance of MSRP = 62.50 USD will be charged monthly

• We see often this option taken, as the first step to identify real usage and needs, and go for Silver or Gold package once actual usage has been determined

Premium:One monthly or 3-monthly payment of the purchased capacity,where free use of data or minutes for data or voice or a combinationat your own choice, however, without transfer of unused capacity tothe next period.

Flexible: You can prepay a YEARLY subscription – where you freely use 12 Months capacity at your own choice e.g. 12 x 25 MB = 300 MB, distributed over a period of 12 months.
