Need for AOCC…..
QUESTION 1
Why….
– Reason for the AOCC– Advantages and disadvantages
of having and not having
Reason• Centralized all the operation around airport
– core airport process/Nerve• focusses on the end-to-end processes operation
– departing passenger (from arrival at the airport through to boarding the aircraft)
– arriving passenger (from aircraft touchdown to leaving the airport).
• command, coordination and control centre for the whole airport which brings together three major operational areas – – passengers– baggage and cargo– aircraft
PRO & CONTRA
Advantages• Smarter Airport
– benefit the airport, airlines and business partners(investment)
• Efficient operation– Performance on managing
the operation
• Total airport management– Airport performance
improvement for Best ASQ rating
– Meet passenger expectations
Disadvantages• Operation not centralized
– The processes related to aircrafts, passengers, baggage and cargo
• Costing• maintenance
• Airport operation not efficient– ASQ performance rating low
• Each main process – there are plenty of sub-
processes • overlap between all the
processes.– Multiple agencies are
involved.

Personnel• Within the AOCC there are three
levels of personnel:

Conclusion
For airport operators all over the world, cost-efficiency, environmental protection and passenger comfort are at the top of the agenda. However, due to the complexity of everyday airport operations, achieving these goals is uncertainties and this is where an Airport Operations Control Centre (APOC) help to provides all parties involved in airport operations with the same information.
The Result: Improved overall situational awareness and decision-making quality.
