Airport FAA 5010 Safety Inspection Program
What is it?
• The 5010 Airport Safety Inspection program is what the FAA uses to collect and document airport inspections.
• FAA contracts with the State through GCR to conduct inspections for airports that do not have commercial air carrier service.
These inspections:
1. Ensure the safe functioningof public use airports.
2. Are used to help evaluate airside aeronautical needsfor federally funded airports.
3. Must be completed every three years.
What gets inspected?
Anything listed within the FAA 5010 Master Record form, SD Inspection Report Checklist and any State requirements.

Specifically, the FAA 5010 Inspection includes information about each of these broad topics.
• General Airport Information• Services and Facilities• Based Aircraft & Operations• Runway Information
In addition the State conducts an annual Airport Facility Inspection which is completed in conjunction with the FAA 5010 Master Record Inspection.
What we look for:
Clear Approaches• 20:1 or better for a visual approach• 34:1 or better for a non-precision
• 40:1 or better for precision approach
Runway Condition
• Pavement / Turf • Runway safety area’s clear• End and Edge• Runway markings
Airport lighting Condition
• Wind Cone / Wind Tee• Airport Beacon• Runway• PAPI’s - if installed• Taxiway
Fuel System Condition - if installed
• Fire extinguisher• Flammable / No Smoking signs• Emergency Shut-off button/switch properly located and placarded
